Character presets not changing.

No matter what I do or what faces I try to add to the presets they never change. Always the same 15 and nothing new. I have gotten the impression that if I download a face preset and add it to the game then when I chose one face out of 15 the new face should be there, either male or female. But NOTHING!

Is it even possible to change the presets at all? I am beginning to feel that the 15 male and 15 female are set in stone.

Has anyone be able to add a new face to these presets?

And you installed F4SE and Looksmenu etc?

Yes I have those installed. I have also installed presets from Bethesda's website and even THOSE do not show up. I have even tried to put the files into the correct game folders but nothing! Just nothng. As if I never did anything at all. I have worked and worked on this but have not gotten it to function. I still think there is something I, maybe, am not doing but it eludes me.

Are these Vanilla Presets or Modded presets?

.. Jj ...

Whatever they are on Bethesda's website. You can download one or a three group. The biggest problem is that once I loaded the one threesome i now cannot get rid of it. Grrrrrrrr.

1st - You are not going to like my answer.

I have read far to many times that Mods on Beth are not reliable and can and do cause more issues than not. After I started reading that too many times from a lot of different people that posted similar and different issues than yours.

I've simply avoided Beth and will not go there. I will only get my mods from Nexus. I won't even go to Steam now to be honest.

Now how to get rid of them:

1st - Did you install them on a NEW GAME from the beginning?

If so, you might be screwed, as they might be ' locked ', for lack of better term, into your saved games. You might need to just start over if that is the case.

2nd - To get rid of them. They should be in your:

< DRIVE > : \ Steam \ SteamApps \common \ Fallout 4 \ Data

If you installed these in a game that was already being played. You might be able to fall back onto a prior saved game, BEFORE you installed this?

Go to the above mentioned folder: \ data and MOVE the said Pre-Set Mods out of there. Do NOT COPY THEM to another folder - MOVE THEM, so they are no longer in the \ data directory.

Then load the prior saved game without them ... and see if all is good? It should be, but I do NOT make any promises. Then once ( hopefully ) the game is " good to go " ... simply DELETE the preset mods from the directory - remove from Trash Bin and do not look back.
