if you are assigning new body nodes to body parts and are unsure which nodes to use, or have any concern about your mod being compatible with other peoples mods (i.e. equipping someone's backpack only to find it somehow unequips your ankle bracelet for no reason other than it occupying the same slot), i've put together a basic node guide here (collected from discussions starting back in feb 8 ) :

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/556409-body-part-ids-for-unused-biped-nodes-consensus/

obviously my intent is not to impose anything onto anyone, and it's merely a suggestion, but just for sake of keeping things organized for modders so that it doesnt become a random free-for-all with body nodes and parts all over the place.

not really related to the topic, but would want to know if someone can explain how biping slot working with each part.

i've created some base clothing, top tank with tight jeans, a pair of shoes and gloves..in CK i set the clothing and shoes with gloves are biping to it, so ingame when i put on the clothing the shoes and gloves will also be wearing in same time..but here's the thing, when i put on put some gauntlets or boots it will make the whole clothing come off , so is it possible if i want to wear another addon boots or gloves but it will only take place the particular part which is gloves and boots but not the clothing.

thanks

Is that why the following wont work for me or is due to me just brainlessly doing it the wrong way..?

"Can you copy the Trishape from one Nif into another? Like he does in the SoMuchMonsters weapon tut..

I exported the jarl clothes deleted everything but the fur on the shoulders, exported it as Nif, loaded up the armor I wanted it on and copied over the Trishape data to that armor.

Looks find in Nifskope, but when I load the game its just the normal armor without the addition I made..?

I have made sure its one of the NiNodes children so its in the list, not outside it and I copied the original shader properties from the model I took the fur from.

Can someone point out where I am going wrong, please.."

Hi ebony_ivory..

I realised that after I posted, but I just tried "copy/paste Branch" using the BSDismemberSkinInstance for a NordicAumulet as I couldn't think of anything that fits in a similar position, as there are no capes.. and the original model is a full costume..

Should I use the BSDismemberSkinInstance of the Jarls clothes from which I got the fur shoulder wrap from?

I'm planing on quite and extensive project and I find it most frustrating being held back by the little things at the beginning.. Sadly I have spent far too much time playing mods and making my own textures and haven't learnt the basics.

I have watched a whole bunch of tuts though, but couldn't find one that covered this exact thing

Edit: Guess not as I get this when trying to copy paste branch of BSDismemberSkinInstance from the Jarls clothes the original model I took from.

Ohh and I got this when trying to add the Trishape of the fur to a existing cape mod as an experiment

@ActusReus

no, i'm not recommended to copy branch the BSDismember from the original model, coz the mesh will mostly gone rupture just like the screenshot that you posted because the original BSDismember still reads the whole jarl clothest weights and all the bones that was rigged to it. You need the new BSDismember which should be under your fur nitrishape after you exported it from your choosen 3D app.

It should be pretty simple, when you imported the jarl clothes into your 3D app you should only edit the vertices not edit any skin modifier, which in your case is only deleting the clothes vertices but left the fur alone, than export it, in nifskope there should be BSDismemberSkinInstance for the fur nitrishape.

@ebony_ivory..

Thanks for your help, I have progressed a bit further now but still running into some trouble:

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/599114-custom-armour-idea-help/page__st__10

You were of course right about the BSDismember, I added the info in Max this time and didnt get it exploding like in the screen above..

Thanks again..

Oh.. and thanks to the author of this TUT as the fur wasn't showing whatsoever until I made sure in the CK that I set the Biped Object to match the armor addition.
