Latest version bellow here:

This version has improved importing support and can export skyrim meshes with rigging and dismember partitions. Almost final. This is good enough to start to develop the exporting part because I have imported all the data that I need :D .

General Readme and FAQ:

1)When will it offer full support for Skyrim?

When it's done. There is no way to estimate this precisely. Problems will always arise in the development process and it takes time to solved them.

2)Why did 3d max have support for skyrim faster than the rest of the plugins?

Well, 3d max ALREADY had support for Fallout 3 and Skyrim is really similar to Fallout 3 and it especially had support for Dismember Skin which the maya plugin didn't have. And the old code of the maya plugin was a bit hard to maintain to I had to virtually rewire the entire code of the maya exporter and some parts had to be modified completely.

3)Does asking a lot of questions help the development process?

Well simple question don't help too much :P. If the questions are WELL documented and explained then they will highlight unknown bugs so it will help the development process or bring out new ideas or how to implement existing features better.

4)What to do if I found a bug?

Firstly I will most likely ignore the post if it's like this: "The plugin doesn't work" or "The plugin doesn't import animations". Please post the name of the files that you attempted to use and the source were I might be able to download them , if it's possible, always. I repeat: "Please post the name of the files that you attempted to use and the source were I might be able to download them ,if it's possible, always".

5) Why are some features or my feature requests ignored at this stage ?

Because it's not the proper time to add them in the code because either I am developing another feature and I need to finish that properly or the code isn't ready for the new feature and needs updating to even begin coding a new feature. Or it may be something unrealistic and you didn't post enough details about how it should be implemented from you point of view in maya. It's is important to post HOW you would like to see those features working. For example what kind of options should it have, what kind of menus should it have or even what kind of extra custom nodes.

6) What about fallout 3 or fallout new vegas?

Well, guess what? While I was modifying and updating the code I also updated some features to allow support for fallout 3 or at least left room to add the proper support for fallout 3. That explains why I was a bit slow. But doing it like this I almost nailed 2 birds with one stone.

7) Don't be egoist or egocentric.

This plugin is for the entire community not for you. Don't post like the people that develop here are your employees or you will be ignored or you won't get the reaction that you expect.

8) Help others

If you got the plugin to work then share it with everyone how you got it and help other people get it working too. If you managed to understand how a feature of the plugin works post a short tutorial about it so other people may use it. It will most likely be much better than what I have to offer.

10) Why do I do this?

Well because I enjoy programming and 3d graphics. And I enjoy doing some things for some people that I find nice or that have helped me in the past or both :) .

11) And if you have read all of this, here is a gift for you. The latest development version of the plugin NifTranslator-0.7-beta4 with skyrim suport for importing and exporting meshes

Awsome, i am new to using maya and making 3d models but i have taken to it fairly quickly and, geeky as it is i really enjoy it.

I did encounter problems exporting files and getting them into skyrim and vica versa but this seems promising, EDIT the DL link is to rapidshare and i cannot access the file, would you be able to upload here or to another site. Sorry to ask but this plug in seems like it could be really usefull for myself and other users of maya on nexus.

Thanks grim
