Viking faction mod

I am very surprised that skyrim doesn't have a lot of viking mods with what age it is set to be in. I want to see a mod with an army of vikings you could join and pillage with, for example, the fights in the vanilla game against the two factions. It wouldn't have to be against the two factions right off the bat, but it would be nice to take part in what vikings truly were. Of course their mythology should be worked into and maybe a few god emplacements, such as shrines for Odin, Thor, Loki, Frigg, Freja, and so on. A nice backstory and quest line would also be very nice to see in this, like learning about the guild itself and how it came to be.

There also needs to be better mods for viking armor and weaponry that would actually look good on the skyrim characters, not clunky and stupid.

Another idea would be to actually put different classes in the guild such as Archers, swordsmen, beserkers, etc.

This mod would require a lot of researching in order to please us viking mythology lovers.

I'm in the same boat. Always been shocked that there hasn't been more Viking/historic Nordic content in the game. I'd LOVE to see more weapons mods, mead halls, armors, factions, and quests centered around the Viking culture. Playing Mount and Blade: Viking Conquest is a fun diversion in that direction.

There is some existing content, and I know there were some mods that were started but I don't think were ever finished. Chronicles of Steel is a MUST have weapons mod if you're after a more historic feel. There was a Nordic themed mead hall that I have yet to test but I think was a recent Hot File; should be able to find it by searching 'Mead'. Another Guard Armor was made to give guards a more historic and diverse look; texture work isn't the best but it adds a different flavor.

There was one I had super high hopes for but I think it fizzled after the initial buggy release. It was a Viking raider mod where you hopped on a boat, you'd 'sail' (basically fast travel from the boat you were on to another that was supposed to be the same at another location) to a generic location with randomly generated NPCs for you to slaughter and loot. Had a lot of potential but I don't think development really took it where he was aiming for

I agree with the shrines bit. The *cough*NINE*cough* Divines are an Imperial institution. The Nords have their own traditional pantheon. Granted...most of them are exactly the same (see in-game book: The Monomyth), but I do find it odd that the only shrines anywhere in Skyrim are to the Imperial pantheon. I have a berserker who explicitly worships Shor, but she has nowhere to do so. No amulets, no sigils on any gear, no shrines, no wayshrines. I'd love to be able to worship the traditional gods of the Nordic people. And even their real-world equivalents would work for me, for a god known by many names is still the same god.
