Extreme Stuttering. 60fps - 0 fps in an instant! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, so as it says when playing OG Skyrim i am getting insane frame drops at seemingly random instances. I will be walking around sitting pretty at 50ish frames when is suddenly drops to literally 0. the game is worse than unplayable and i need to load it up again. re-entering the same area dosn't cause it to happen again, but it will happen. It's only a matter of time. truthfully i am fed up with trying to figure it out. You got any ideas?

 

I use NMM as well as LOOT and TES5edit to keep things clean. I installed each mod one at a time to make sure they work properly and it has been playing well hovering around an average of 40fps - occasionally up to 60.

Any advice and or knowledge as to what is causing these drops?

it is greatly appreciated.

 

the FPS drops has happened:

-when entering cities

-during random encounters

-in the general overworld.

 

going to the menu immediately restores me to 60ish fps.

cpu: AMD FX-8350 black edition

gpu: His 6950 iceQX

ram: 8gb ddr3

 

this computer is newly built even though it has older parts, so nothing should be breaking down etc.

First, check your LODS. Big, HD, detailled LODS can create stuttering. specially trees LOD, mountains LOD

 

Second, maybe reduce a little bit some textures for plants, grasses and trees.

 

Number of NPCS and their quality skin can create stuttering. If you use 4K skin, this can create stuttering.

 

 

Of course you can edit your ENB gui (if you use an ENB)

reduce the quality for - shadows

- reflections

- water quality

- change the dof quality from high/veryhigh to medium or low.

Thanks! i didn't think it'd work but that was it. i am not sure why it started having such trouble in the first place, but hey whatever works. :) much appreciated
