In short, I WANT THOSE PESKY ZIP-LINE BASKETS! So many times have i seen those awesome zip-line carts all over the wastland. Libertalia for one...

There's not much to say here, it's long over-due we had our zip-lines!

 

 



BONUS: If someone could make me at mod where the player can use the ziplines without the basket (Tomb Raider style) I would be the happiest gamer around! <3

howdy.

I like the ideas in this thread,

and, while my own FO4 mod fu is limited,

perhaps collabs or modders will be able to chime in with some possible pathways.

we've got jetpacks, though, what if folks want to 'indiana jones', or 'jimmy mcbond',

and swing or shimy their way around buildings, on some sort of tether?

a lot of the stuff you see in game, isn't really there for targeting on long range stuff,

there'll be a few what-the's hehe.

 

indeed, moving elevators in FO4 are a tricky thing.

that's what the cart elevators at libertalia, or that failed settlement near the river/CIT apartments are.

or the massive one in Mass Fusion executive tower.

 

I think you'll thrill to discover some of the projects in the works,

particularly Cypher2012 or some of blahblahDeeblahblah, and greekrages' ideas.

those might add placeable carts and custom wasteland scrap-elevators etc.

 

as to ladders and 'ziplines',

yes... that could be possible.

there are ladder mods in the works...

play the game, and notice how many ladders and rungs etc that the player climbs...

 

if, we could collab, combine forces...

we could, using those as a community resource,

apply the onEvent ladder animation, to the elevator node of the 'zipline'...

voila, a kludge-o-rific quick-n-dirty zipline!

you'll be vulnerable for the duration of the zipline though, both hands will be on the 'monkeybar'.

though, you'd avoid fall damage as you zip from rooftop to ground etc.

now, to request that it be deployable anywhere at any time,

that is a whole other level of crud.

though, again, RuadHan2300 may have partially solved some of that too.

(ruadhan2300, dang you did an awesome job on that teleport blink nade!)

 

he has a teleport gun, and the targeting part of that...

could be used to set the exit criteria for a placeable elevator/ladder instance...

so instead of teleporting, it fires the grapnel gun and you 'climb' up along that...

(we'll say the Pipboy is also a power-winch hehe).

the graphnel placeability criteria, would be like the placement criteria in settlement build...

that could be a potential bloatware/overflow waiting to happen...

 

if you want custom animations for while using that...

they'd also need to be formed, separate from the ladder climb or prone animation projects so far.

if you want to be able to fire while on a zipline, that is way too tricky for me to think of how to accomplish that at this time hehe.

Powered ziplines would be, in some cases, a good idea escpecially when it comes to going up-down to-from higher levels. Beats climbing all those stairs or ramps or using elevators to get across a settlement.
