Immersive Oblivion idea: NPC wardrobe change

I really enjoy the many immersion mods available. I also enjoy getting lost in the world and just exploring and seeing what there is to see. I would like to add to this endeavor.

I have been tossing around an idea in my head but I am very novice to scripting. However, I am sure it can be done. So, how feasible would it be to write a script that has NPCs change their clothes every (day, couple of days)? Add a few different items to their inventory, or even have them walk to a specific container and retrieve items and change. Then they go about their daily routine.

Kindest regards,

When I first imagined a way to better control NPCs, I made a proof-of-concept mod to see how feasible the idea was (NPC ACE - NPC Advanced Control Engine, which is among my Conceptuals), The 'engine' got WAY more complex than in this POC, but I never finished it).

Check it to see if the scripts are of any use to you.

From the readme:

About the mod
============
This mod takes control of 10 NPCs in the Anvil docks area and is designed to replicate their schedule as in their original AI packages.
Also, every morning, they will wear a new set of clothes (from the vanilla lower class clothes)
Besides that, it makes the NPCs aware of the wheather:
- If they are outside, on their way to some interior area, and it starts raining, they will run to their present destination.
- If they are outside, in a wander package, they will abort their activity, select a new, indoors one, and run to their that destination.
- If they are indoors and it is raining, they will not select an outdoors activity, but they may decide to go to another indoors location.
- Whenever they leave home and it is raining, they will wear a raincoat (actually a robe and hood). That raincoat will stay in their inventory until they come back home.
- Whenever they are outdoors, it is raining and they have a raincoat, they will wear it and walk to their destination (instead of running).

Thanks everyone. Im going to take a look at all of those.

I also had an idea recently. The Eyja Mod has this cupboard where you can set clothes for each day as well as special occasions. Pretty brilliant. I might see about adapting that script to a container in every NPC home. LOL it will take forever, but will be worth it for a living immersion mod.
