What have you in mind? (idiotic egocentric)

I'm a translator, I've translated about 150 mods, without any kind of problems, but now I assist to some really strange behaviour, where madders refuse to let me port his mod to SE 'cause... who know why.

After a 6 month I've asked again, if they let me port it and they still say NO.

Ok, it's not a problem for me I HAVE IT in any case, it's a damage just for the community.

And the same behavior I know happened to other too.

This "things" that you need to ask to TRANSLATE a mod is absolutely insane!
I can understand for porting to oldrim to SE but the translation unwritten rules MUST BE revisited ABSOLUTELY!

'cause they don't care about translation, and they even care about bothering on uploading it on Nexus.
We are getting stuck on very strange situation, and at the end the only one that will loose on thing situation 'still the end-users.

What I mean is that: when you upload a mod on Nexus you should loose some owning part, it should be something like:

- if you upload it on nexus all materials will be at community disposal, just like a CC Opensource Freeware stuff could be.

so others should be able to do what they want, they just HAVE TO give the credit.

And that's it.

This would probably result in number of authors withdrawing from the site: imagine that you work really hard on something, and then somebody else does a minor tweak, and re-releases it - and the "tweaked" version is the one that sticks for whatever reason - and I don't think that anyone would be overly happy by only being a footnote on the other mods description page - not to mention that in such a circumstance, the original author would no longer have any incentive to develop the mod further, as the "tweaked" version would be the one that people actually download....

As for your situation, I can understand that often these things are frustrating, but I am sure that the author has some reason for his/her behaviour - and while I think that in most cases its just unfortunate for everyone , in some cases its actually understandable.

You should look at yourself and think who's really the idiotic egocentric in this situation because there's no such thing as "right to use mods", but there's a thing called copyright.

Copyright !!!

On an open-source system created for users on a completely free system... you are sick my friend, really disturbed!

Hope this will not result in name calling and force me to lock this thread.

The Nexus rules might transcend copyright – the Nexus rules.
Every member confirmed that they had read and accepted the Nexus Terms of Service in setting the according checkmark to continue the register procedure. If anyone had not done so, they would not have been able to register with Nexus.

If one intends to use and reupload any files or file assets by another author on Nexus, the original author’s permission has to be obtained in advance, unless the original author has publicly stated a general permission anywhere.

The Nexus rule for use of files or file assets by other users is clear:
ToS, section Uploading files and images:
„…All files uploaded must have been created by the uploader or used with permission from the original author of the content. Such permission must be indicated in the Readme text attached to the file and/or on the Description page (or in the Description field for images), and must be obtained in advance, before uploading the file. If you cannot provide proof of consent then your file will be removed and your account is likely to be banned. ….“

Giving any permission is on – and only – on the original author’s discretion.

The Nexus rule for providing translation services is clear as well:
ToS, section Uploading files and images:
„ … If you are providing a translation service for a mod in another language then you cannot upload any of the content from the file you are translating (this avoids issues with your version being out-of-date with the original authors file). Your translation should be a stand-alone addition that works in conjunction with the original file and you should link to the original file as a mirror or in your file description. If you cannot translate a file without including the original files content then do not upload it at all. …“

@MaximillianPS,
if I should come across again that you call anyone „sick“ or „really disturbed“ you take chances to get in trouble, unless another mod, more lenient, comes across and might deal with such matter differently.

The same applies for other users calling anyone idiot or a post "idiotic" ...

In other words, no name calling no matter how insignificant the disrespectful description may appear to be. The name calling will cease here on out.

Many times the best course of action to take on a seemingly offensive comment is to report the post yet withhold saying anything yourself. i.e. pass in silence and let the moderation team handle the situation.
