Steam/OBSE/NoCDcrack LegitCopy/Wrye Bash Workaround

No one probly cares. and im not quite sure if this works yet but im making this post anyways and will edit or delete it when i try everything out.

But heres the gist. So wrye bash doesnt work in program files right. so you need to move it to another location out of the STEAM FOLDER unless you want to reinstall it to a different location. But that would require a no CD crack am i correct. and that s*** doesnt work with OBSE. from what ive tried.

SO DO THIS

you can link steam to think your game is still in the steam common directory by linking a shortcut using CMD. This all makes sense in theory but ill l have to check and see. everything i do seems to have some sort of problem. this should make it so you dont need a cd crack.

EDIT it seems to work for me so far when loading obse. but it doesnt seem to work with that old obse_loader.exe thats going around for steam users. I dont 100% if obse is actually running when i start through steam though. there is no obse.loader.log made. but theres is a obse_steamLoader.log and a Obse.log. made. so im thinking its turning on

(if it is on. let me confirm that theres is no black command prompt window that opens like normal obse when clicking the loader. so if you were confused.... it makes sense..... at least i was for awhile. not used to modding oblivion. ive done way more skyrim and fallout games. im trying to get bevilex's mod list working.

It is possible to create a new Steam Library Folder outside the Program Files folders, actually. After that, close Steam, move the game folder and the corresponding appmanifest file (from the steamapps folder a little above game folder) to the new location. No need to play around with symbolic or hard links or directory junctions or somesuch. If you create a new library folder before installing the game, you can even directly install the game to the new library folder (Steam will offer the option to select the Steam library folder in which to install)! Handy. To create a new Steam library folder:

Steam (top left corner of the Steam client) --> Settings --> Downloads --> Steam library folder --> Add library folder

It does not require any workarounds. For example I have all my games on a dedicated physical HDD to keep things simple (well, sort of, I am running out of space, it is a very small one... ).

You absolutely do not need any cracks whatsoever. Period. And if the disc version gets installed in the wrong place, you can always remove and reinstall it in the correct location. Any "cracks" from the Internet are always fishy, suspicious, can contain viruses and you really have no idea what they eventually actually do on your computer of what they really add or do to the game itself. Or if they even do anything at all to the game or are just there to add a small keylogger or virus or something on your computer to read any bank account details, account credentials or other things you input on it.

Hopefully that helps a bit! I only have obse.log and obse_steam_loader.log myself, too. The obse_loader.exe cannot be used to launch the Steam version of Oblivion, but you will still need it to run the Construction Set with OBSE support (or to run the CSE).
