Hey guys, starting this post so that those that are interested can follow my progress on this mod.

Completed:

  • Track laid out from Diamond City to Nuka-world transit center
  • Fully animated train
  • All functionality completed.
  • Full physics on train. Player can walk around train and shoot out of the windows.

TODO (Required):

  • Design and model the stations at each end of the track
  • Create audio track for the train

TODO (Optional):

  • Remodel train and track. They were very rushed models and not the best that I could produce given some time and effort.

BETA release!

yeah! this is AWESOME.

outstanding awesomeness Cypher'12.

if you can make this, I look forward to seeing what elevators and scrap-themed stuff you've got on the backburner then.

now, I can have a freight monorail go in the Underboston or in the Memory Den Virtual Holodeck

(dare I even say it... a 'hologram ghost rad monorail?")

I'll also have to see if, like the mobile TARDIS settlement...

if it is possible to have a vertibird land on the monorail settlement, while mobile.

cue Jimmie Lunceford' "crazy train woot woot" from "the merrygoround broke down".

So I've been mucking about doing some mock ups for the stations.

Here are a couple of images of a mock up for the Diamond city station. The idea here is that the station will have a similar kind of structure as shown in the images. The ramps will gradually come down until level with the road.

As I don't have 3DdsMax, I have to consider the fact that I can't make custom collisions for the stations. I'm going to have to recycle assets from the game, or at least recycle the physics data off of existing meshes and add them to any custom models I create.

This means I really want to be building the stations in a modular fashion, instead of modelling the entire station. What I might do though, just for fitting purposes, is have the mock up models as one piece, get everything lined up in game, then go back and re-create it with modular pieces.

The ramps are the stairs in Diamon city.

For the frame, I can probably recycle the games scaffolding meshes.

Here's a few B&W screens of the mock up in game.

It's pretty close actually. I've since raised it up a little bit, so that the platform floor lines up with the bottom of the trains doors.

I then just need to make the little walk way across to the road.

that is just phluppin' awesome.

I'd like to use that 'station' parts pack,

to make tenements and bunker parts, it just fits so well.

thanks cypher!

Hey Montky, I don;t think I will be making any settlement stuff!

In the end, Ive just been recycling assets that already exists in the game to build up the station..photos incoming!...
