Holster Weapons To Talk

the other days i was playing STALKER, and noticed a mechanic pretty neat and searched for a mod (not found), where friendly NPCs would refuse to talk as long as your weapon is not holstered (in STALKER they tell you to stash your weapon and take out their, since the game is hard i didnt tried to look what appens if you have your weapon not holstered for a while while being by the friendly guys).

I already play with Reactive People / Project Ultimatum where they equip their weapon if you aim at the NPC and so on, but was curious if its possible to do this mechanic (i think there were some generic dialogue for some npcs sayin "we have nothing to discuss" or something, im not sureif there is a similar voice to "i will talk if you put away your weapon")

 

would be interesting if something is possible

I'm not really well versed in this area, but I'v done some dialog for custom companions and I think you could do it with a specific npc using a topic text with goodbye checked and a dialog with something like "holster your weapon and we'll talk", then a condition using the isWeaponOut function (player as actorRefID). That should immediately end dialog as long as the player's weapon is out. The downside is you'd have to do that by hand for every NPC you want to have that response.

 

There are a lot of ways to achieve the same result in fallout and maybe another mod author has a better idea that would apply to all NPCs without editing each dialog tree.

in rective people there is reputation loss and reactive people (weapon draw) on every npc, even modded

Dialog and an a combat alert state are very different things. I'm not particularly familiar with the other mod, but I can imagine getting a crosshair reference and issuing a setAlert on that ref if your weapon is out.

 

On the other hand possibly trying a top priority dialog quest without any filter (no condition, which would make it apply to everyone) is a possibility. I'v never done it since there isn't really any dialog I'v previously thought of that everyone would say in common. Plus it will be the only dialog for some characters that don't have any. Might work.

 

And as I mentioned others may have better, more elegant solutions. But if not, and your ok with those two repercussions (plus probably others) described above, I can make one for you to try out.

So I decided to tap into one of the generic dialog quests since it's filters apply to most humans and non feral ghouls (why remake the wheel, etc). This way not everything that has the dialog option ticked will be able to respond with the line. However this isn't my forte and there are a few points I find curious and I want to get some feedback from the mod author forum on them. So there will probably be a a delay of a few days while I wait for feedback and do a bit of research.
