For me its the fact that the game has all this mods in different time periods of actual history, and that the game is actually realistic (a 100 % realistic medieval game, finally !!! ), i still think the game deserves more of an audience and definetly more mods.
So what do you like best about M&B W ?

Whats your favorite thing about Warband ?

Yeah I love the combat system too. The melee fighting in particular (though archery and projectile physics is pretty good too). When I started playing M&B and tried out the directional blocking, which is really tough but really fun when you learn it, it got a little difficult playing melee mode in other games, even in Bethesda's games.
I also love the replayability and the freedom especially when it comes to military strategy and politics. The base game and even most mods are very simply written, with barely any story to push at all. They leave it all open-ended, which is intended so you can play any way you want. Every time I start a new single player game, I try to play in different ways. I sometimes just start a war, or help two nations beat each other up then finish off whatever's left, or I play as a loyal vassal to one of the nations, or help a rebellion out. I've also played being just a trader, got rich a lot with avoiding combat as much as I can, until I could afford huge armies of my own. It's pretty cool because all kinds of players can enjoy it in different ways, from hardcore roleplayers to the casual fun-loving gamer.

I like the combat system. On foot, the melee is intense; on horseback the combat is equally good, and the best implementation and representation of mounted combat from an RPG standpoint that I've played. I love the archery, and I like how you have to compensate for arrow drop, like in real life.
From an RP point of view, the game is so open ended you can play however you want to, and there is a lot of replayability.

I played WB until I had conquered EVERY City, Keep & faction.
Thundering across the plains with the LOTR Rohirrim music in the background - simply awesome!
Its a shame that the UI is so old fashioned though, no drag & drop of units etc. When you have 30 types of soldier moving those new Cavalry to the top of the deployment list is irritating.
The Game engine could do with a visuals overhaul & the soldier AI isnt the best.
Imagine what Creative could do with this IP!
There is a game in development which might scratch my itch, check out

I like the kingdom management system, and the map in general. There are some decent mods out there too.
