Very lost—trying to get started

Just got a PC, installed Skyrim SE through Steam. I found that a lot of the mods I want are not available in the creation club mods, so I ventured over here to the land of nexus! Little did I know I would be pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the f*** I am doing wrong.

I have looked at two guides, watched 3 how-to videos. I am at a total loss. After I installed the Nexus Mod Manager, I set the file location to E: as that is my 1Tb hard drive. This is also the drive that Skyrim & Steam are on. I went back to the nexus website, searched for Immersive Armors, selected download with manager, and it says:

Nexus Mod Manager is not set up to work with Skyrim if Skyrim is installed, rescan for installed games from the Change Game toolbar item.

So at this point I am now rescanning my installed games, which, by the way, does not pick up that The Witcher 3: GOTY is installed, wtf?

What am I doing wrong? Please help someone, I am so frustrated, and I feel stupid. I know its something easy, so please no hate.

UPDATE: Omg guys I think I did it. I found a fix for chrome in the settings on nexus, which is stupid, imo. Immersive armors in currently installing. Now at this point after it downloads to the NMM, should it just be available in game? Is there another step after this?

If I remember correctly, Nexus Mod Manager needs to be installed in the same general location as your games. So if you have Witcher installed in C: then NMM also needs to be installed there. Once you have downloaded the mod through NMM, you need to install the mod.

A general rule of thumb is that you understand the software before you use it, so if you're not sure how to use NMM, I recommend you watch a few videos on the subject. I recommend Gopher's videos since he covers everything and his instructions are easy to follow.
