How to translate other language.

There is currently no proper translation mechanism available, we will eventually set up a web tool for translating.

What you can do right now:

Go to C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\resources\locales and copy the folder "de" to "ja" (or whatever country code for your language, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes).

Then edit the files in the newly created directory, they are simple json files with the english original text on the left and the translation on the right.

Simply replace the german texts with the japanese translation. Make sure your text editor saves the file as "utf-8". You may have to start your text editor as administrator or change file permissions for your translation directory.

When you restart, Japanese should appear as an option in Settings->Interface and selecting it should activate your translation.

Now please be aware that the german translation is wildly outdated and incomplete so you will end up with a lot of texts that remain untranslated. You can try to manually add texts to your translation files but especially with dynamic texts (stuff like "12 active mods") this may be complicated.

Because it has just come up on something else: When you do work on localizations, please ensure you always have a copy of your localized files outside c:\program files\black tree gaming ltd\vortex

That directory will be removed/replaced when vortex updates so you could otherwise lose your files.
