The Pip-boy as a pip-eye

Something close to what happens with the pip-boy while in power armor. However, when one brings up what normally would be the pip-boy, two "holo-images" come up on the ui on either side of the screen. Leaving the center space clean while the pip-boy data is displayed respectively on left and right sides of the screen.

Left side would have the item or text list, the right side would have the information portion of whats selected on the left.

Please note that the map would always be where it appears normally, center stage.

holotapes could be played via an attachment at the characters belt/waist, with contents being displayed much like the map.

This would be an eyepiece of sorts that would fit the eyes category, and a mod to add to helmets.

My thinking is that it could be a more beneficial reward for joining the Institute. After all, why not the Institute since after 200 years, CIT had to have managed to attain some pip-boys in the past. Institute could have also modified the pip-boy so that instead of weighing an arm down or having to use your hands [as far as being visible on screen with pip-boy] for navigation, the pip-boy would be controlled by "eye-movement and thought".

Originally this modification would've been used for coursers as a way to augment targeting, but it was set aside in order to simply put everything into the head instead for efficiency purposes. Now Father sees it as a possible additional physical reward to you for joining the institute; after all, who wouldn't want to be rid of that 10 pound [or so] weight on their arm for something that could be used with a simple thought?

Justification for this tech: Fallout 3, your pip-boy was nearly undetatchable from your person, this is a reasonable leap from the clunky arm tech to something clearly either Enclave or Institute level ingenuity.

This is just an idea, I'm not a modder, but just thought I'd give an idea to the modders.
