Mge xe seems bit off

Hi i installed MGE XE to morrowind and followed instructions included with the mod. Problem is i feel my game does not look as good as in mods 'showcase' pictures. Any idea?

Here you can see mod sites pictures: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102/?tab=images

And my games screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/oaupO

I think my general lightning and water and nightsky looks fine though.

Thanks!

It looks like all you've done is use MGEXE on the vanilla game. As it says in the mod description, it doesn't update graphics/change textures or anything like that; it just increases the viewable distance and improves on some things like shadows. The screenshots of the mod are using all kinds of other mods to update Morrowind's visuals.

Try using this mod, but make sure you follow this guide (including what it says in the stickies) as it has info about how to install MGSO and update it/fix its bugs.

Those screenshots to me look like that none of the "good" shaders are enabled. Light shafts, HDR, Water Effects... None of them that I can see. Shaders are -> MGE GUI -> TAB="Graphics" -> Shader Setup -> Double click these shaders in "available shaders" and make sure they're in this order:

<Active Shaders>
SSAO HQ
Underwater Effects
Sunshafts
Underwater Interior Effects
Bloom Soft
Adaptive HDR 3

If your interested, here's my MGE.ini from \Morrowind\mge3 Minus my Mod lIst:

I have all same shaders enabled as you, just bloom is fine instead soft. Does it really matter What order shaders are on the list. And finally is MGSO worth installing? Heard there are some game breaking bugs. Thanks for answers! Edited by oblivioff

Darn :/ Sorry m8. Yea, order matters. Or at least thats what I've read. That was my idea. As for the overhauls, I stay away from the the big overhaul packs bc most mods aren't compatible. I follow the STEP:Morrowind for a base then add all the popular mods and tools from abot's site :D I found that multipatch is the only one you need, but that's off topic.

In MGE/XE GUI there is a thing called "Macro Editor" under "In Game" tab. In there bottom left is a drop down menu which u choose what you want these keys to do. I use the NUMPad keys and top 3...scroll lock/print scrn...etc. Map some keys so when you press say "9" it enables shaders. I have a few mapped including zoom, toggle distant land, next soundtrack new lighting effect enabled... etc. Maybe enabling shaders by a keymap will do the trick for yea  Just be sure to "save" your custom keymaps

Sorry to bother you, but i would like to try mods like this:

Morrowind Code Patch 2.40

Better dialogues font

Aduls leggings

MGE XE

and MSGO with MSGO 3.0 patch (see this : https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45077 )

My main concern is msgo bugs but that link i posted says it should fix door bug etc.

If you want the latest Code Patch go to the Skunk Works page. Tho Don't get the MGE/XE there.

Stick with 0.9.10 IMO. https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26348/

As for that patch for MSGO... Try it out. Looks like it'll fix all the little bugs that come with the overhauls... but again, I have No Experience with it. Most, including me, zip up our Vanilla Install and put it back somewhere in case something goes wrong. If it does... Delete and Unzip the backup back into the install folder and try another solution :)

And finally is MGSO worth installing? Heard there are some game breaking bugs.

I have it on my current install of Morrowind, following the guide I linked, and it works perfectly fine. I used to have individual mod downloads I'd install and organise myself, but when I looked at the MGSO mod list, I saw it had pretty much everything I used, and more, so decided to go with it. I then installed other mods on top to personalise it a bit more to my taste.

So, yes, if you follow the guide, it's worth installing. Certainly a lot faster/easier than trying to compile your own list, or going through the rather long-winded STEP process.

I installed MGE XE fresh and enabled shaders you said in order. Heres what it looks like now :

I feel like morrowind terrain is bit empty. Do you have any mod to recommend that would add grass to ground?
