FG 42 Weapon mod idea

I thought for a long time, about how cool a FG 42 FO4 weapon mod could be. But unfortunately there is none out there.

Now when it comes to making functional models for a Game, i have zero talent or knowledge, pity me.

Though i thought, maybe... just maybe, i could spark an idea for a concept, for a new weapon mod, for someone who actually has those skills.

So for anyone, who doesn't know what a FG 42 is, here are some yt links:

Here are some Pictures:

Also an overview, in which Games the FG 42 (Model 1 & 2) is present:

And CAD Models can be found here for example:

It is certainly not a demand of any kind, but if anyone from the modding community, has skills in modeling FO4 weapons, then maybe this little post, serves as inspiration, for a new fresh & interesting weapon mod.

At first glance it seems like this woudl work fine rigged up to the Pipe Rifle or 'Assault Rifle' animations, but no. The Pipe Rifle's magazine is way to far forward. The 'Assault Rifle' has the magazine a bit closer, maybe even close enough to fudge it a little bit and get close enough, but it has that stupid giant grip that will either leave the hand floating or require a massive, oversized, ugly foregrip on the FG-42. Nope, this here weapon is gonna require some custom animations, which means, most likely, someone is gonna have to make a high quality set of meshes and textures to draw the interest of someone who can make them.

Would love to see it though, a great looking, fairly unique weapon with lots of variants to inform attachments. Now I HAVE considered doing a Johnson M1941/45 (the closest comparable American weapon) because I think I can rig it pretty damn close to the 'Assault Rifle' animations by keeping the bipod/monopod folded, but that's just a note on my ideas list right now.

Thats a shame, that there is no fitting animation, i thought the Assault Rifle animation would work though.

Custom weapon animations, are almost certainly a deathblow, for any new weapon mod concept, because making new Animations is cumbersome and takes extra time & skills.

Now a Johnson 1941 LMG would be a nice project, because as you said, in comparison it is the closest weapon to a FG 42 and it has the magazine feed not at the pistol grip like the FG 42, but more forward to where the bolt handle is., so in theory it could work with in game animations. Would love to see this mod  .
