Hey guys!

Well i've played Fallout 4 with mods in Bethesda mods section. I've always checked my load order according to the guides people made. I've had some problem but still i made it work to play smoothly.

I just started to play FNV again just for Project Nevada's brilliant changes to the game. I just started using NMM, checked out some guides to list my load order perfectly, tried to use FNVEdit, WyneFlash and LOOT etc. Here is my load order from NMM;

I once installed AWOP and compability patches to try. But i didnt like it and removed it with NMM. Then verify integrity, archive invalidation (after retexturing mods) and all... I also installed some others mods, couldnt even understand if they were loaded, spotted some required mods and so, i uninstalled them all too with NMM.
I believe i dont have a lot mods in order to play the game smoothly. And i really want to... I couldnt use WyneFlash because i didnt know how to actually correct the red lines there. Always used LOOT when i changed any little thing related to modding. I also use nvse loader to start my game, also patched my exe file with 4gb patcher too.
When i try to start the game with nvse loader, my mouse cursor doesnt show up, and at Bethesda Software image the brightness of the screen suddenly becomes brighter, then the screen lock up at the Ranger standing in front of New Vegas sign. After trying to start the game 2 or 3 times, I finally can get to load my game or start a new one. I play like 30 mins without any bugs, then a little load screen freezes my game. Then i cant load my save game unless if im lucky (in 3rd or 4th try maybe). It doesnt give any errors related to "out of memory" bugs. It doesnt give any error messages. I used NMCs large at first, but when i saw black retexturect plants or etc. i switched to small ones in order to use the NMC better (large one didnt work even i used 4gb patcher). I use Win7 compability mode for FNV.exe.
My computer specs are:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M 256 Bit (Drivers up to date) 1920*1080
Intel® Core i7-4710MQ Cpu 2.50GHz (8 CPUs)
16 GB RAM
I'd be so glad if anybody can give me a better load order or maybe another way to fix my freeze and other bugs. Thanks in advance...

looks like your load order is a bit of a mess

you seem to have multiple conflicting plugins (look at how many WME plugins you have , you aren't supposed to use all of them , just the version you actually need)

aside from WME , NevadaSkies and FCO seem to have plugins that you don't need (you have 3 versions of NS , while you only need one . and you don't use Russell , so why do you have FCO Russell?)

this is just from a quick glance at your load order

go through it again , remove all unnecessary plugins , and try running the game again

hopefully this will fix the initial problems

also , there are plenty of guides online and here about New Vegas (especially look up Dubious here , he always links to a comprehensive guide , and is generally a NV helping angel)

Thanks for the reply. I removed the ticks from the ones i didnt need. If by removing you mean uninstalling, i actually cant. I downloaded those mods with NMM and those plugins are added by default. I now removed the ticks of some i didnt need. Hopefully it will work.

About those guides, i actually read a lot of them. They encouraged me to use software like LOOT and fnvedit. LOOT is easy to use and i did, but fnvedit and others... I actually couldnt understand how to correct the load order or conflicted ones with their interface.

With ProjectNevada mod, i got Rebalance and Cyberware esp's. They have a warning that indicates they are classified as .esp but the header marks them as .esm. So i do have to load them after all the .esm's are loaded, right?

Any other advices? Maybe a load order change or somehting?

by uninstalling the plugins , I do just mean unticking them from your load order

no need to actually remove these plugins (though many mods come with installers that allow you to select which plugins to use)

FNVEdit is a pretty good software to use , though for load order it isn't really useful as far as I know

the one thing it does allow is , when running it with all of your used plugins selected , it will give error messages if you have a plugin loaded before it's master

so it could prevent missing master errors in your load order (as long as you actually have all the masters , and the problem is just the load order)

from what I remember of PN , I usually load all of it's core plugins in a group (so all of them in a row , and compatibility plugins later in the load order , as needed)

so I think that isn't really a problem

as for suggestions , I think you can remove the plugin that gives you a level cap of 100 and 1 perk per level , as you can set both of these up in PNs MCM menu

if you could upload an updated load order , I could try and give more specific suggestions (I will need to see which plugins you have removed)

but after you feel comfortable enough , please do test to see if the game works

if it still has the same issues , I'lll try and find a solution (I remember this kind of problem , but I'll need to search for the solution , as it's been a long while since I've encountered this)

Please don't edit the plugins list. We need to see what it actually shows.

I'm not an NMM user, so I could be wrong. But the key point about "inactive" (unticked) plugins is that they not be loaded in the "Data" folder when the game is run. Generally the "tick" is indicating the mod is "active"; "unticked" simply means it is "inactive" but present. This is a problem.

It is my understanding that NMM has a "Mods" folder which is where downloaded mod archive "packages" are saved, and a "Plugins" folder which is where the "unpacked from the archive" plugins "installed" into the game "Data" folder are listed. You have the option to "install from mod" or "install from URL" or to "install from Nexus". In any case, it still downloads the package to your computer. The options are simply what happens after that.

Here is where I am less confident of what is happening. The "Plugins" folder is (at least the equivalent of) the game "Data" folder. Any plugins with a "checkmark" are "active". "Unchecking" makes that plugin "inactive". But I am not confident NMM actually removes the "inactive" plugin from the "Data" folder unless they are "uninstalled".

I have gathered the impression that NMM is working from the concept of a "clean Data folder" (which Mod Organizer definitely does), meaning the "Data" folder is actually empty in between NMM sessions. But the acid test is to look in the game "Data" folder with Windows Explorer while you have NMM up, and see if the NMM "inactive" plugins are present or not in the "Data" folder. If they are still present, then they will cause problems and you will need to "uninstall" them (believe on the "Mods" tab, this is what clicking on the "puzzle piece" with the red arrow does). But they should still remain in your "Mods" folder to be installed later.

Back to your original problem. Getting rid of the "inactive" plugins is a start, and may be all you need to do. If not, Please see the 'Issue: Black Screen on startup' and other entries in the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

As for Wrye Flash (WF), it's my preference in mod managers. You are correct to be concerned about the "red lines", but those can be corrected. As with any mod manager, it takes a bit of learning. Recommend you look at the Fallout New Vegas Beginners guide to modding by gromulos. Feel free to ask about anything that still concerns you. The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide is an excellent guide to the interface of WF, though it has recently been updated to the 300 series of Wrye Bash, so there will be some differences.

Hi again;

Well i've cleared or the inactive mod data from fnv folder. Updated my load order and all, and the first fast travel, the game freezes. Then says fnv has run into a problem and crashes.

Bashed Patch, 0.esp=1
This is the new load order, after i used Wrye to create a Bashed patch. I mentioned another buggy gameplay before. It happened with this load order but all of them were active. Now with the bashed patch im going to try it again. And btw, maybe worth mentioning, i still dont have any mouse cursor in start screen till i do archieve validation.
I will try another gameplay with this load order, maybe the bashed patch might help. But im getting so frustrated at this. The game looks so much promising but i cant play smoothly.
I checked out gromulos guide to modding and actually improved my load order a lot after it. But i still cant understand how to correct anything in FNVEdit.

"ArchiveInvalidation" has nothing to do with the cursor. It's a "mod manager" function for telling the game to use "loose" mod files instead of the vanilla ones packed into the BSA files. Toggling it is essential when you change the "loose" texture/mesh files.

The cursor usually doesn't appear until after you get the initial menu displayed, and even then it can take a few seconds. As long as it eventually shows up so you can select menu choices, you're good.

You haven't mentioned, but I'm assuming you are running Win10. If so, you need to install the DirectX9 drivers, because the game is from 2010 and is looking for those specific file versions of the drivers. Please see the 'Issue: Vanilla game Hangs on startup', "Cause-1" entry in the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

Your latest "load order" is still showing "inactive" (=0) plugins. What's the story there? As I explained at length in the previous post, the mere presence of the files causes problems.

FNVEdit (generically known as "xEdit") is useful for a number of things, but you only use it when necessary. It is not designed for "casual" use. You need to learn how to use it and there are some hidden rules not discussed in the FNVEdit Training Manual. There are wiki articles that discuss using it for specific tasks, but they are focused on specific problems rather than xEdit itself. The most common you will likely need it for at this point is if you get the message about a "Missing Master". In which case, please see the wiki "Missing Masters" article.

When in doubt about using FNVEdit, please ask first. For instance, do not use it to "clean" the vanilla FNV game ESM files as you might be used to doing or have seen advised with other games. This is one of the things covered in the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

I see both "WME-GRA" and "WME-All DLCs" plugins active. You only need the "All DLCs" file. Here is the relevant section from my standard "load order" boilerplate advice (which follows after it).

* Don't install every optional file for a mod. Read the install instructions carefully. Optional files need to be selected on a "case by case" basis. For example: with any mod you usually only need one ESP (and possibly one ESM) "base" file depending upon whether you have all the DLCs active or not. Only if you don't have them all active do you need to install any specific DLC versions if there is an "Ultimate Edition/All/Merged DLC" version.

All of the following may not apply to your specific situation, but are worth repeating anyway.

* Be aware that one error may mask a number of other errors, which will not appear until those masking them have been resolved. Building a stable game consists of resolving each problem individually until none remain, and then realizing that every change you make thereafter (including updates to mods already installed) run the risk of introducing new problems. Be prepared to revert to a previous save if you do so.

* Did you install Steam to it's default location? If so, please see the wiki "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" article for why the original default Steam behavior of installing games to the "C:\Program Files" folder tree was bad (they learned better, and don't do that any more); and why "disabling UAC and running as Administrator" is NOT sufficient, with instructions how to move it. This is the single most important thing you can do to fix and protect yourself against problems in the future. As much of a PITA as that is, it's never going to be any easier than now. Please see the 'Restoring to "Vanilla"' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article as well.

* Are you running Win10? Did you get the "Fall Creator's Update" (FCU aka "RedStone 3")? Do you have "New Vegas Stutter Remover" (NVSR) installed? If all three are "true", then please see the 'Issue: Recent (post-Win10 FCU) CTDs after 10-20 minutes of play' (and other "heap size") entries in the 'Solutions to Performance problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

* If you are suddenly having a "slowdown" or lag; or a lack of sound; or problems getting NVSE to load, or really anything new unexpectedly, please see the 'Issue: NVSE - fails to load after update KB4058043 to Win10 FCU (v1709)' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. This may be due to a Windows Update for the "Meltdown and Spectre Vulnerabilities".

* Are you using the 4GB Patcher? If not, please see the 'Maximizing use of memory' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

* If you are using the full 4GB of memory, most likely your CTD problem (now or in the future) is the default "heap size" is too small. It's so common you might as well deal with it now. Please see the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

* Move any "inactive" plugins out of the game "Data" folder. They count against the "plugin cap" because they get loaded by the game engine if found, and can cause "Missing Master" problems. Please see the wiki "Missing Masters" article if you get that error message.

* "Compatibility patches" to make one mod work with another need to be placed after (as in "physically lower, higher numbered") in the "load order" than both of the plugins they are designed to make compatible. ESMs should always be placed at the top (lowest numbered) positions in the "load order", followed by the related ESPs though they can be separated from their ESMs by other plugins. "LOOT" does a good job of determining those basic orders. Getting the "load order" incorrect will cause "Missing Master" errors as well.

* Don't install compatibility patches for mods you do not have installed/active (e.g. get rid of any "TTW" patches if you aren't running TTW).

* Do not use an "Auto-purge" mod for game play. (That was old advice from before we knew better.) They are designed for debugging by mod creator's only, according to the author of the JIP extensions to NVSE. See the 'Issue: CTD without warning, "Out of Memory error", or stops responding after the Main Menu', "Cause-2", "Solution-3" entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide for the game settings that do the same job.

* Please see the paragraph about "auto-saves" under the 'Essentials for Getting Started' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. If you have been using the built-in "auto-save" feature and you get the endless "roulette wheel" when loading a save game, then your current save game file is corrupted and you will have to either go back to a save before the corruption occurred (hard to tell) or start over.

ALL of these steps are needed to have a smooth game. Have patience. It takes time to get the game functioning smoothly. (I spent a week working on it before even attempting to "play", but never had a significant problem once I started.)

Hey again!

I clearly made some progress over the last post. I added some other mods, used LOOT to order them first. Then read all the instructions again to make sure i didnt miss any load order advices. And after that i used FNVEdit (xEdit) to create a merged patch. Here are some issues i fixed:

I dont get any freeze or ctds from opening pipboy, entering vats or any other active in-game related situation.

My cursor shows up at starting screen, but Bethesda image at the starting screen changes brightness so suddenly it feels like its gonna crush, but it doesnt, i get to start menu safely.

Here is the worst issue i still couldnt find how to fix:

After 30 minutes or so, game freezes at the convenient loading screen. Doesnt matter where, it just freezes.

My specs are:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M 256 Bit (Drivers up to date) 1920*1080
Intel® Core i7-4710MQ Cpu 2.50GHz (8 CPUs)

There is only a couple of red lines in merged patch about the vendor listing lines. I couldnt get myself to solve them. Not sure about this, but might they be causing the load order freezes? Got some images that can tell a lot instead of my words.
I will be reading those guides you guys shared trying to solve these freezes. In the meantime, if you guys have any other advice it would be appriciated.
Thanks for the great replies.
