1.1.1[1]

Blastdoors wheeled shut almost exactly 101 days before the official Doomsday took place which unofficially became known as the 3Doomsdays. Thus ended, the terrible 619 day long Doomswar, in Doomsday.

The great majority of plexfolk went into statuscapsules while a smaller number remained awake.

Isolation Barriers closed down almost exactly two days after the blastdoors wheeled closed and locked into place.

That is except one that stood between Lifeplex101D and a great cave system, which jammed open leaving a fairly narrow gap that only few humans and clawroaches could get through along with special purpose built tech devices. The cave system apparently did not give access to the surface but was not fully explored so it might do.

That is the surface that would become part of the Wastelands of the Wastescape.

Lifeplex101D was separated from the rest of Lifeplex101s, and other aspects of Shelterplex101, by isolation barriers or so it seemed to be at first.

1,000+ people lived, worked, carried out other activities in Lifeplex101D.

Exploration teams sought to go through the entire of the Lifeplex101D, including the areas between bunkerplexes and at the rim area of the main hull along with the cave systems surrounding the lifeplex.

Five tempbunkers (temporary construction bunkers of varied sizes-uses) were found, in the cave system, and used. There were other built up areas, dumping places for unused construction materials and other features of varied survival usefulness.

1.2.1[2]

Supervisor Sanshalla couldn't shake the sense that 'something' was not right though there was no obvious threat or trouble taking place. She quietly observed teams of generalists, and specialists, fixing up machines used to construct the shelterplex in the first place. It had seemingly been easier, and more economical, to abandon much after Shelterplex101 was completed though much was taken and much was carefully stored away.

The very tough, smartmaterials built, machines were going to prove useful in various reconstruction-construction projects or so it was hoped. A big 8x8\8x8 vehicle had two massive cabs that each was a tractor; they were linked by a clever flexilink arrangement. The octiduomak could move in either direction with one tractor pushing and the other pulling. The cabins had room for heavy, compact, cargo but a middle section could be added between the two powered cabin, they being of different kinds. Shelterplex101 already had two fully functioning versions of the machine.

They were fairly close the Lifeplex101D and inside any of the isolation barriers. Clawroaches attacked, sometimes, in swarms but so far there had been no other threats of such twisted nature.

Power armoured workers were doing some of the labour but mostly it was being done by workers in hazensuits (hazardous environment suits). Hazensuits, unlike hazmatsuits, were designed tightly with light armour and were used for different tasks along with dealing with different challenges.

There were guards in power armour but more of them in hazensuits holding pulsecarbines or autocarbines along with one having a lasercarbine. So it was they who were on alert thanks to the Supervisor's concerns and her track record of being accurate with what she sensed.

They came swarming from a cave tunnel mouth, humanoid creatures covered with leathery skin and gaping mouths full of fangs while retractable claws coming out of their fingers. The ghouls rushed towards the humans and died as firepower struck them down. Bullets, pulsebullets and a pencil thin laser beam struck them down one by one.

After a very short time the survivors turned and fled, proving that they were far from being fools.

Sanshalla spoke, via 2ways, to the others. "That was a testing attack. I sensed some kind of alien mentality controlling those creatures with basic commands and the use of pleasure or pain as incentives."

Others, there, had sensed the malignant entity though none as strongly as she had done.

The dying ghouls simply ceased to live, as if a switch had been pressed, and then they were being bodybagged and placed into electric tunnel-trucks. Tunnel-vehicles were relatively narrow, and elongated, for transports being also drivable from either end.

1.3.1[3]

Exterminators were newly organised paramilitary type generalists, and specialists, meant to deal with threats such as clawroaches and ghouls. Big question was where had the clawroaches, and leathery humanoids, come from. Both threats had been encountered firstly in the genetic madness of the Doomswar whether they were partly, or fully, gen-engineered was largely a mystery.

Exteam One, the first one to be created, used jetflamers, and jetsprayers, against clawroaches but more conventional weapons against ghouls. Ghouls were resistant to the jetsprayers' poison and fairly fireproof though jetflamers could damage them at closer range or just push them back.

They moved in three lightly armoured tunnel-troublers, with a roof top turret at either end and gunports. While most of the Exterminators used hazensuits, a minority had power armour.

With them was newly promoted Director Sanshalla, of the Extermination Department, who was not greatly pleased at the placement. For she had been hoping to become HighDirector of Lifeplex101D and knew she had been neatly shunted to one side into a probable dead end.

They were due at Outpost Alpha112A very soon to both make sure it was going well and to deliver some equipment-supplies to the plexfolk there.

1.3.2[4]

Outpost Alpha112A had been attacked and dead ghouls lay scattered across part the free fire zone surrounding the low hulking outpost circle wall. Again Sanshalla considered it to be some kind of testing attack and was not the only one to come to that conclusion. Except that the Outpost Director arrogantly denied that was possible.

Sanshalla sat in the other director's cramped office as she faced the arrogant man. "You may choose not to believe in the existence of the threatening, alien, intelligence but I do and I have more authority, in such matters, than you do. The outpost must go on Amber Alert Status until a solution to the attacks is found."

The red haired man scowled. "Just because you were punished, politically and career wise, for questioning, the Leadership Council, too much doesn't mean you have to get me into trouble. The LP101DLC is putting pressure on to expand this outpost to increase the cultivation of cave plants to provide more resources for the lifeplex."

Sanshalla nodded. "I am well aware of that but it was the LP101DLC that gave me my orders that this outpost be put into Amber Alert Status."

Director Menzies scowled but then nodded. "Very well but I will confirm what you say as soon as our 2way phaseradio communications with the lifeplex return to normal."

Sanshalla frowned. "How long have phaseradio communications been blocked?"

He shrugged. "What does it matter? It will get repaired when..."

She slipped her pulsepistol out of her hip holster and shot the 'man' in the head. Even as he felt he became a strange version of a ghoul corpse with a thin purple webwork of quasiliving crystal crisscrossing his body.

Doppelganger! Another insane product of the Doomswar.

The smallish outpost's people mostly survived in bizarre purplish jelly like dopcapsules that, when linked to doppelgangers, made it easier for them to pretend to be the real thing. Doppelgangers were mostly killed but a handful were taken prisoner for a very short time before they dropped dead.

1.3.3[5]

Two other doppelgangers were discovered but were died spontaneously before they could either be killed or captured. The real outpost director, and the two other doppled humans, were placed in slow rejuvenation regeneration capsules because of deep, intricate, damage done to them.

The find was a most curious one being a very large metallic stone chamber with suncrystal globes melded to the ceiling high above. No humans made such a place but the ancient Trivari did being of the gold, silver, copper and other castes.

Before the Doomswar, and the 3Doomsdays, there had been limited trade between humanity and visiting Trivari saucerships and, just once, a truly massive Trivari mothership. Universal protocols limited the extent of goods, and data, traded to humanity but many scientific, technological, advances had been gained by the primates.

The Trivari spoke of a more ancient Trivari Empire who had been far more advanced than the newer, nomadic, descendents. They only gave a few basic details of the terrible crisis of the rise of the Greynari and the war that had followed which smashed the Imperial Trivari in more than one way.

The Nomadic Trivari knew no more about the secrets of such Ancient Trivari chambers than did humanity of the NewEarth; that is next to nothing!

The first, of three strange crystalic surfaced alcoves, had a floating, semitransparent sphere 3mx3mx3m in dimensions. The second had two such spheres, lined up horizontally and being melded together. The last was three such spheres, in linear formation and melded together. They were ultratech graviglobe transports of the very ancient Imperial Trivari.

"This chamber was not here just hours ago!" Scout Jasnak, of the plexfolk, spoke from where he stood in his hazensuit. "It came to be... it was found just by a Plexguardia patrol following one of its semirandomised routes. There is that dispenser over there, if that is what it really is."

It was a dispenserbox that supplied a short list of basic, but valuable, survival items. That is boxbottles of pristine water, thick grainy liquid food, thin healing paste, a kind of biofuel that could also be used as a low nutritional base food and some solidstate devices along with solidstate rechargeable batteries to energise them.

Sanshalla spoke. "There were records made of such chambers found in harsher, more isolated areas, across the NewEarth. Not just those with the psychoreactive alcoves and-or dispensers but with other exotic features. Ancient Imperial Trivari ultratech reacting to the needs of those it was never designed to serve; that is minds alien to the Trivari it served a great time ago. The dispenser list might change as people use it and everybody doing so will automatically gain a relatively small amount of regenerating credit up to a certain fixed limit."

The Exterminator Director was concerned that the enemy, that is the secretive mentality and not the ghoul puppets, would find another such chamber if not more than one; such could boost its threat level.

1.4.1[6]

Professor Jen Carlton sat watching a 3Dtelescreen showing 3Drecordings of the recently appeared Imperial Trivari ultratech chamber. He was a specialist of the newly created Special Exotic Investigation Research Agency or the SEIRA often pronounced as the word 'se ira'. Back, before he went into status, he had helped to investigate other extraterrestrial sites, being not just of Trivari in origin. That was back before humanity, and other species, had been driven from the OldEarth to the NewEarth by the Gaia Backlash.

Gaia monsters, guided natural disasters, and other forces had attacked humanity but the gateways had opened allowing humanity to escape to a world with a harsher, more basic, ecosystem and climate. Most doubted that this had been a coincidence for the Gaia monsters had not followed even when they seemingly had the opportunity to do so.

At first the NewEarth, in most ways like the OldEarth, had seemed like a new hope. There was no Gaia Backlash to deal with though there were increasing sightings, and other detecting, of UFOs. Then began the Greyvari attacks on the human colonies of the NewEarth. In defensive efforts humans destroyed multiple Greys vessels but were increasingly driven underground and beneath the large NewEarth oceans.

Imperial Trivari sites had been discovered on-in the NewEarth, being in greater numbers than they had been found to be in the OldEarth.

All of this ran through the genius mentality of the man along with other useful data. Yet he only quickly scribbled a few notes with an electric pen on a special solidstate pad.
