Not sure why special edition keeps locking up...

Hey I'm having some issues with freezing up on my game, the task manager shows very low activity on the cpu but normal (about 3Gb) memory usage; I have way more RAM than that though. I swear I played with a similar list to this a while ago with no issues but i'm freezing up every 5-10 minutes and I've had no luck googling help.....

Help would be AMAZINGLY appreciated!

I had this issue and fully cleaned out and reinstalled skyrim's files, stress tested vanilla and things seemed pretty fine, but as I say after I started playing modded things got a bit funky.

There is a few problems here. First off obsidian mountain fogs is built into obsidian weathers so you donât need that.

Another is that you seem to be using amidianborn mods. This is generally fine but you shouldnât install the ESPs (see the BOSS guide on how to install those mods).

Start with the above and report back.

I created a bashed patch, deactivated obsidian fogs and moved alternate start. The aMidianborn esp is for thalmor wearing black armour, etc. it wasnt more than 2 minutes beore it froze again. A 4Gb GTX 960 is enough to run this all right? I'm getting a stable framerate

Hmm... Maybe I'm overlooking something, but I don't see anything obviously wrong with your mods. Things like these are hard to track down....

Just some ideas:

- Try to narrow down which mod(s) give you trouble. Disable them in packs of let's say 5 or even 10 and test the results. If the freezes stop, test the last "package" of mods one by one. Start with mods containing sripts. Simple armour or weapon mods are very unlikely to be the culprits.Always start a new game with "Alternate Sart" for these test runs. Problems caused by leftover scripts or mod dependencies would distort your results otherwise.

- Make sure you got FNIS SE installed and have run the "generator for users". Just to make sure it's not an animation issue.

- Doublecheck that you only got mods for SE installed. If unsure, open the file in SSEEdit and look at the file header. Version number shoudl read.44, .43 indicates "oldrim" mod. Sometimes re-saving the esp in the SE Construction Kit will suffice, in most cases there will be additional conversion work to be done. Check one of the many guides for porting mods to SE in this case.

- Check every mod dependent on SKSE, if there has been an update after the latest patch of Skyrim and SKSE - or if there are complaints by people demanding an update in the comments section...

Sorry, that's all I can think of ATM.

In addition to the bashed patch, you need a merged patch above your bashed patch, and the bashed patch needs to be done in a specific way to work with the merged patch.

or

will tell you how to create your merged and bashed patches.

That thing with merged and bashed patch is somewhat controversial. Creating both was commonly recommended for years. Nowadays, recommendation is "bashed patch only".

Quotes on that issue from the modding guide on the Nexus "Oldrim" forums: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2235394-beginners-guide-to-modding/

WARNING - As of 8-11-2017

From alt3rn1ty - author of the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide

Wrye Bashes Bashed Patch can import a lot of records for the old Oblivion game, but for newer games like Fallout the patchers all need to recognise the newer games records to be able to increase it capability .. But they need to be developed first (Wrye Bash for newer games is a work in progress) - Because of this people are impatient to get a solution to importing more record types so falsely believe using xEdits Merged Patch aswell as a Bashed Patch solves the situation : It does not, if anything it makes things worse and random.

AND

Sharlikran - contributor to Wrye Bash

Gromulous aside from the quote from Alt3rn1ty, you might also want to mention what I said in my other post abut how Elminster originally made it for FO3 and FNV because there was no Wrye Flash for those games until Valda released his versions. The other thing that makes what Alt3rn1ty mentioned correct is because they don't patch all the records. Wrye Bash (with the proper record definitions and patchers) can patch all the records that make sense to patch. There are a few exceptions that you would never touch like the NavMeshes.

You could also add that it's inadequate because xEdit only looks at 10 records, 'LVLI', 'LVLC', 'LVLN', 'LVSP', 'CONT', 'FACT', 'RACE', 'FLST', 'CREA', 'NPC_'. Records like CREA are not in Skyrim, so if the record doesn't apply to the game, it's not used.

So, current opinion of people who definitely know what they're talking about: NO merged patch, bashed patch only. I followed this advice for the last few months in "Oldrim" as well as in SE and everything's fine. Just saying...
