I can't get anything to work

I just can't manage to set it up.

The "How to install" is no help, because it is apparently from 2008 and none of the mentioned .exe files exist anymore, so you have to set it up manually from the .zip files, but I cannot find a full on tutorial or anything that helps with setting up everything.

Which versions are the best? where do I get these version? Where do I put them? Is there a specific order in which I have to set stuff up?

I would really appreciate if someone can just give me step by step instruction how to set up blender with nifskope for skyrim.

Or maybe someone can publish a .zip with a folder in which everything is set up.

Bump! Wow, here we are almost 3 months later and no answer? I'm in your boat and saddened that no one has helped you. I noticed all the hard work on github and niftools.org but I also am aware these people are developing this stuff on their free time. Blender updates so fast and IDK how these people keep up.

I am trying to mod an architecture .nif mesh from Skyrim, but I cant get nifscripts setup either. At one point I had 2.49b with option to imp/exp .nif but then it gave error messages while importing mentioning inability to find scripts directory. WT?? There is a scripts directory! I hate blender 2.49 but I might consider trying to use it with older niftools on another machine since my main rig is used a lot for learning 2.79b with a group through Udemy. Apparently there is nifscript plugin for 2.7x but I cant install it. I dont know what is in the .zip file or where to put it. The closest tutorial I've found to what you and I are trying to achieve is this :

I hope that helps you in some way. It didn't help me because apparently I dont know enough about windows unless I can click next, next, next.

I have no idea how to install anything from github that isn't an installer package, unless I'm using Linux. Its sad because I'm comfortable working in blender 2.5 and up and have a knack for modeling and texturing, if I could just get nifscripts and nifskope to do what it should do. Or maybe the problem is, it shouldn't. 3DS max is $190/month. Maybe that will help.

IF i find a way to get any versions of anything working ill help you out. But for now, no modding Skyrim meshes for me.
