How do i install Vortex do ANY OTHER DRIVE?

See the attached photo. I have close 3 hours now trying to get everything ready to play my very first run of skyrim VR, and now this. I'm so tired of having to deal with this garbage.

Simple english: can I install this on a drive that ISN'T C:? If not, cool. I'll try MO2, and see if I have any luck there. I'm just done with wasting what little free time I have on this.

First: Having a c: drive which is filled up completely is NEVER a good idea. You'll run into serious problems with your Windows installation VERY soon anyway.

Second: There's a separate download for Vortex available on Nexus which allows you to select the installation directory.

So much for your attitude that you didn't even read what you were downloading...

First: When I built this PC 6 years ago, I was following the idea that you should have a separate SDD for your OS, and then set up all other programs on slave drives. Which is what I did. I now regret it, because 60GB is tiny by today's standards, and I constantly have to clear crap out of the C drive that is inevitable created behind the scenes.

Second: I had no idea there was a download available on the nexus website, I was directed to a github page, and there was precisely one option there.

So, thanks, both for the help and the snark.

You've started the snark in the first place. Just reread your posting.

It was never a good idea to have a small OS partition. Even 6 years ago. The only reason to have separate partitions is to have smaller footprints for image-backups of the OS. But since a OS is hardly working without the installed programs, I'd never install programs on other partitions than C: - with very few exceptions, like games, just because of their size.

I'd just reinstall my system in your place and reserve 256 GB *at least* for C:\

Don't get the other installer, this will free up only the program files (~225MB), not the data!

Instead, go to settings->mods and change the directory where mods are downloaded and installed. If you're modding bethesda games you have to move the mods directory to the drive where your games are anyway.

Tannin, you are too nice sometimes :)

First, I want to apologize for my outburst yesterday; I was just really frustrated. I shouldn't have taken it out like that.

Anyway, I have vortex installed on my E: drive, and my mods are installing to my F:. Everything seemed to be working pretty well, but then I get another fatal error... I can't really describe it, something about missing nodes.

How do I attach another screenshot?

Remember to go to settings and set the "update channel" for vortex to "none", otherwise vortex will update automatically the next time we release an update and I believe atm it will install the new version to C again.

attaching screenshots: Odd question since your first post in this thread contains a screenshot... When you click "More Reply Options" you should be given the option to attach a file.

Bumping this because I need help with the same thing. Except I downloaded everything to the D drive with the alt download. ...but the vortex has the default for mod storage on my C drive. And gives me the err message that it needs an empty folder when I've given it one?

My SSD started with less then 100GBs so I've been working with a 4TB HDD.
