Pulowski's Knock Off Vault

So I was playing Fallout 4 wandering through the wasteland when an awesome idea hit me. What if Pulowski's Preservation Service (the creators of the Pulowski Preservation Shelters) made their own sort of vault project. Sort of like if Pulowski's and Vault-Tec were competitors. Maybe there could be a vault somewhere in the commonwealth, maybe in the glowing sea. Where essentially Pulowski's vault is a cheap knock-off of Vault-Tec's. I think it would be really fun exploring what it would have been like if Vault-Tec didn't secure a monopoly on the nuclear protection business. Perhaps the vault could be found deep in the Glowing Sea filled with Ghouls of people that might have survived the nuclear blast if they had chosen Vault-Tec.

I just came up with this idea about 5 minutes ago and I realized how cool of a mod that would be. However I couldn't make said mod I figured someone might pick this idea up and make something awesome out of it. If you guys have any idea to say on how to expand on this mod idea I'd love to hear it

Thanks

Hm.

I'm trying to comprehend the thoughts which might lead one to the belief that something like the pulowski shelters might be a good idea in the first place.

You have to be rather stupid to think that you will actually collect money after the bombs fell.

It could, of course, have been an investor scam. Basically, they convinced the cities that the shelters are a good idea, and got paid for building them. In that case, they could indeed do a further, larger-scale investor scam by building a shitty knockoff vault.

You could have some small redneck community who mistrust the government and therefore vault-tec, but still want a shelter. Pulowski comes in and scams them out of their savings.

Perhaps a tie-in with the Gorski cabin? That guy was definitely the kind of person who distrusted the government, and would also potentially fall for the scam. We also know from his terminal entry and half-finished mini nuke that he has both the will and the ability to commit to insane acts of domestic terrorism in retaliation for what he sees as injustice. Perhaps he caught on to the Pulowski scam and was planning to hit their place with some buddies after the signal tower job, but never got that far because of the bombs? Perhaps a terminal entry or a scrap of paper could trigger a sidequest leading to this Pulowski vault?

Pardon my incomprehensible ramblings, you essentially got the gist of what I was trying to say. Obviously Pulowski's Preservation Shelters didn't work because throughout the game you find dozens of them filled with skeletons. I like to think that Pulowskis Preservation Service was indeed a scam, either because they wanted the people to believe that the threat of a Nuclear apocalypse wasn't a threat at all, or perhaps they just didnt give a f*#@ and wanted some quick cash while the nuclear scare was going on. Honestly there's not much backstory or lore on Pulowskis but that would make the mod (if anyone ever does something with it) even more fun to do because you could essentially make up your own backstory as to why it was built, (perhaps competitors with Vault-Tec or just a failed project) where it was built, or maybe even when it was built (Perhaps Pulowski's Preservation Service came before Vault-Tec and maybe Vault-Tec was a second attempt at the same project just under a different name). Maybe Pulowski's does weird tests and experiments on their inhabitants too. I think it would be a good idea to just have a note from a now dead person expressing how they wish they would have went in Pulowski's Vault A (instead of numbers?) instead of being so stubborn. I think there is a lot of freedom as to what could be done with this mod seeing as there is very little backstory and lore on the Preservation Shelters. I would love to see this mod come to fruition.

I don't think Pulowski would run any experiments. Vault-Tec (afaik) only does this, because it is ordered so by the government.

However, fun could be had by telling how much corners pulowski are cutting.

They could start off by burying old, decommissioned train cars or busses for the general structure. I think someone community actually did that IRL during the cold war.

Then, instead of recycling water and air, they just try to clean what they get from the outside, and in a really cheap/unhealthy way. Like, the "reactor" is just a few engines from nuclear cars, water and air filters are asbestos-based, instead of hydroponics you are supposed to crap into buckets and put that right onto the crops, etc.

Then, you could say that, despite all, the people in there actually survived for quite a while. They did succumb to various diseases eventually and/or the population just wasn't sustainable, but without any vault-tec experiments, they actually managed to live for some decades.

Since Pulowski's isn't a government funded project I seriously doubt that they would perform experiments I can see your point there. I have a feeling however, that there would be quite a bit of foul play somewhere along the line. Maybe the hierarchy is different in Pulowski's vault program. Maybe the project failed indefinitely but was rediscovered by wastelanders. It's hard to pinpoint what direction the mod would head in. Perhaps it could be a new settlement for the player, or a level 40+ dungeon, or maybe just a kickass side quest and a new location to explore.
