Dual Sheath Redux SE Help

Hello everyone! I'm new to Skyrim SE and of course, modding as well! I've tried looking up several guides on how to install DSR, however, none seem to solve the issues I'm currently having :(

I have no idea what I'm doing lol! So the first step I did was install Dual Sheath Redux manually and then dragged it into NMM. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong but the guides don't really explain how to install it (to be honest with you, I've never installed a mod manually before and NMM is my lord and savior) and I have the knowledge of a two year old when it comes to installing mods.

I digress, um after that I activate the DSR in NMM, configured the DSR patch and everything seems to go smoothly after that. But when I try to patch it, it keeps telling me "This patcher requires the following mods, please add them to your load order: Dual Sheath Redux.esp" WHICH IS SO CONFUSING because it is enabled in NMM as well as LOOT.

Here's my loot order:

0 0 Skyrim.esm

1 1 Update.esm
2 2 Dawnguard.esm
3 3 HearthFires.esm
4 4 Dragonborn.esm
5 5 Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp
6 6 RaceCompatibility.esm
7 7 RSkyrimChildren.esm
8 8 KS Hairdo's.esp
9 9 ShowRaceMenuAlternative.esp
10 a CharacterMakingExtender.esp
11 b EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp
12 c EnhancedLightsandFX.esp
13 d ELFX - Exteriors.esp
14 e hubertfollower.esp
15 f BVLT - Human.esp
16 10 ApachiiHelmetWigs.esp
17 11 Improved Eyes Skyrim.esp
18 12 Improved Eyes Skyrim - Vamp.esp
19 13 Improved Eyes Skyrim - Serana.esp
20 14 FNIS.esp
21 15 SkyUI_SE.esp
22 16 XPMSE.esp
23 17 ELFXEnhancer.esp
24 18 ELFX - NoPlayerHomes.esp
25 19 RSChildren.esp
26 1a BetterVampireLord.esp
27 1b Bikini Armors.esp
28 1c Dual Sheath Redux.esp
If anyone can help me, thank you so much!

I don't really know what you mean by installing it manually , and dragging it to NMM

but unless I am mistaken , DSR wasn't fully converted to SE , so you would need to install it manually , and then convert the patcher to work with SE

afterwards you would need to run the patcher through NMM , which should allow it to work properly

if you still can't get it to work , feel free to ask whatever you need (though please explain what you've done so far , and what errors you are getting)

however , if you go to the mod's page , there are instructions on how to install the mod in the description , plus there is a video tutorial on how to install it with NMM (though you will need to manually install the files , but still use the patcher through NMM) . and again , you will need to get an updated patcher for SE for it to work . also , check the comment section of the mod , there are several discussions on how to get this mod to work with SE

Oh sorry for the confusion! Let me rephrase! Through the NexusMod page for DSR, I clicked manually to download it, hope that cleared that! And I literally just dragged it into NMM to install it LOL which I think isn't the proper way to do things.

If it isn't too much work, could you explain how to install it manually if dragging the file into NMM isn't correctly installing the mod! I think that's my problem. I'm not sure what everyone means by installing it manually perhaps? I've tried to follow the video tutorial but I'm literally two years old when it comes to this kind of thing xD Also they're all for Skyrim, not Skyrim SE so I can't really follow them that well

So all I did, like I said, was dragged it into the NMM and installed it LOL which it somehow did! I can add a picture if you'd like! And then I configured the patch through NMM and patched it all the way until it said that i needed to put it into a load order!

How do I convert the patcher to work with SE?

Thank you so much for your help!

ok , I'll try to explain , but do tell me if you need clarification on anything

so manually installing mods isn't doing anything with NMM (or any mod manager for this matter)

what you need to do is to open your Skyrim SE folder (where the game is installed) , go to the Data folder , and unpack the mod's files into this folder

however , since DSR comes with an installer and a different folder structure , you will need to do some extra work

what you need to do is unpack the contents of the base mod (the 000 Base Mod folder) into your Data folder (and if you want to use any other pack from this mod , like the on back pack or something for another mod , you will need to do the same with the appropriate folder) . if it will ask you to overwrite files , click yes to all

now your mod is manually installed , and now all you have to do is get a new patcher for SE

this seems to be possible in one of two ways

the first is to simply edit your plugins.txt and add the plugin to it , or you could update the patcher using another SE patcher

to do this , I'll quote an explanation I saw

In your Skyrim installation's Data folder (or the installation zip file's "000 Base Mod" folder if you haven't installed it yet) use 7zip to open the file: "SkyProc Patchers\Dual Sheath Redux Patch\Dual Sheath Redux Patch.jar"

Then remove the "skyproc" folder from the .jar file and replace it with the updated "skyproc" folder found in the installation zip for ASIS SE mod zip file, located in the file: "data\SkyProc Patchers\ASIS\asis.jar".

If you replaced the one in your game's Data folder, you should be good to go. If you replaced it in the DSR mod's zip file, then you need to install it. Now you can just run the patcher and it should work!

this requires you to also download another mod , but you don't need to use that mod

all you need are these specific files from ASIS (or another mod with a patcher , but I suggest using this mod just to be safe)

this really isn't the easiest way to go around this , but unfortunately you chose to run NMM

I would suggest you instead use Mod Organizer 2 (or MO2) , as it's far nicer to use (in my opinion) , and it would make installing this particular mod far easier (as you can install the mod using the mod manager instead of manually)

if you want , I am providing you with a link to the page from which I quoted the instructions , maybe it will help you more https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/79igji/guide_how_to_make_dual_sheath_redux_work_in/

Ah I hope I'm not bothering you too much but I have done what you suggested and downloaded MO2 as well as following the reddit guide!

I'm currently in a pickle atm. This popped up when I tried to install DSR in M02: https://imgur.com/jMGJmvE

I tried clicking and unclicking everything but the "no game data on top level" won't turn green. I just went ahead and ignored it, not sure if that's the correct thing to do.

Also I'm not too sure what they mean by "Copy the entire DSR folder and put it in the game folder."

What game folder ^^'

you aren't bothering me at all , I'm glad to help :)

so for game folder , I mean your Skyrim folder

go to your game's installation folder , where the executables are . inside this folder is a Data folder , this is where you need to install mods (although you really shouldn't do manual installations if you use a mod manager , especially if you plan on using MO2)

in fact , after reading this guide , I'm not so sure it really works as suggested , due to the installer format of the mod

you see , the error you get in the MO2 installation is because MO2 doesn't recognize a Data folder structure for the mod

the way MO works is that you select which folder is the mod's Data folder , and it installs all of the files inside it . however , due to the installer format of DSR , it just doesn't work

I think I found a better guide for you , see if this one works better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWu5mL-kwPI&feature=youtu.be

as a side note , do not use both NMM and MO2

in fact , I would recommend that you take the time to do a fresh installation of the game , and install all of your mods via MO2

this will prevent issues , and I think it's generally safe practice
