How long do in-game (already dead) bodies hang around after the character comes across them? Are they a permanent game fixture? For example the dead caravan merchants outside Dragon Bridge

Some bodies seem reluctant to leave, Miraak followers or hired thugs... there was a body removal timer mod for Skyrim, just wondered if anyone knows of (or could assemble) a mod that removed decomposing dead bodies after a duration for Skyrim SE - even dragon skeletons (due to the glitches they can often create)

Thanks

To actually answer the question you asked, the unmodded game timer for bodies is directly tied to the cell reset timer.
Cleared cells (like an interior bandit cave you've wiped out) reset in one game month (usually 720 hours, one game "month").
Uncleared cells (and I think the "outdoors" Tamriel) reset in-game every 10 game days (240 hours).

The mod linked above is pretty wonderful for this purpose and I highly recommend it (I have it in my mod list too).

Mind you, if you have it set to wipe out *every* body when you leave a cell,  you best do all your desired looting before you exit said cell.

I say that because if you're on a quest that involves the *need* to loot a thing off a body you didn't kill, you might want to disable the auto-clean function (easily done from an in-game menu) so that walking through some door to get to an inner sanctum or something doesn't take away your needed questy bit that you didn't immediately pick up for whatever reason...like, if you totally forgot to *loot* the Drauger boss in Bleak Falls and this mod clears out its body...and the dragon stone...pretty much breaking the game so you can never be the dragonborn short of console command fixes :P (LFMF)

It conveniently wipes ash piles too.

This mod does not possess the disintegrate function as such, I am not sure if setting the bodies on fire using this mod prevents a necro from using them. It never occurred to me to test that, because I figure facing a necro who is gonna raise the dead and make a fuss with them is...kinda the game-point of facing necros. Either you did the work and chose the path to get the magic perk to disintegrate bodies as a combat strategy....or ... not.
