Feedback on Vortex

I came here just to say that I'm happy I've renewed my subscription to the site since I feel that you are now giving back a quality product to us.

So I thought that it would be good to take five minutes to say thank you to all of you and specially to Dark0ne and Tannin of course.

I am somewhat a veteran player and mod user for Skyrim and Witcher, I've been using NMM old versions then migrated to MO (and loved it) then a couple of years out of the scene and now I came back and modded Fallout 4 for the first time with 245 mods using only Alpha Vortex and believe me it was the best mod build I've ever made. Stable, consistent and reliable.

I do better and I do more with less effort and in less time than before. I guess that was your overall objective.

Also the process was very easy,

I'm always very careful to mod my game, read everything, check every compatibility, the works, but it looked like that with Vortex those (in my case sometimes extreme) cautionary measures were not necessary and that the program itself will manage everything for me. I know it's not true and knowing myself I'll keep doing my research, but having that feeling is a good thing.

Next step in the coming months will be Skyrim SE.

Congratulations on finally having a unified and solid Mod Manager.

> That is exactly how I feel about it also. So far the only things I have done is to setup my rules in the MODS tab and create a couple of patches via xEdit and place those patches in the Dynamic Patches Group. The auto-sort in the PLUGINS tab was done by Vortex and after that, play my game. I have not had the need to move this plugin here, there, before this or that, etc, etc, .... it has been very simple and easy to use. Vortex is placing plugins in the right place automatically and that particular function is something invaluable for me and moving my patches to the Dynamic Patches was fast and easy. Awesome !

I've been a huge fan of Nexus for well over a decade, but the switch to vortex has left me dissapointed. I hoped to add a few mods to a fresh install of Fallout 4, and here I am hours later still scrounging through youtube for tutorials on a product that is anything but easy to use. I still am unable to force any sort of "deployment" of my mods, and have given up several times. Now I don't even have the sweet option of switching back to NMM. 0/10 would not recommend this cumbersome, buggy and downright annoying "mod manager."

YEs, you can switch back to NMM.

I really wish the people who love NMM actually would read FAQs etc, because then they'd be informed that NMM is still an option, but I guess it's easier to just complain about everything.

I've noticed it's all of the non-paying members who are being the loudest about getting free stuff they don't like.

Instead of spending HORUS on YouTube looking for tutorials, you could've just clicked the TUTORIAL button in Vorte3x and gotten several videos.

But hey, again, that's too easy.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear Vortex is not to your liking.

As HadToRegister pointed out, we have a large number of documentation and tutorials intended to guide you through the adaption phase from NMM to Vortex. That being said, reviving a feedback thread from June is not exactly expedient when it comes to voicing your opinion. Further, it would be pertinent for us to know what exactly it is you are struggling with. Did you consult our documentation? Was it lacking the answers you were seeking? That might be useful information for us when it comes to improving our support.

Lastly, I would suggest to keep these kinds of posts to the Vortex Discussion forum in the future: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/forum/4316-vortex-discussion/
