Convert SE mod to LE

I understand that I will have to use a different BSA edition, but does the .esp transfer well? I have removed my LE and the CK that goes with it, but my mod is in both formats and the LE mod has not been updated in some time. I could just submit the files "loose" but there is no way for me to verify without installing LE and the CK and I don't have the HD space.

To sum-up, can the Special Edition .esp be used in Legendary Edition?

I'm pretty sure you would have to undo the format change that is usually done when converting mods from LE to SE (43 to 44 , if I'm not mistaken)

but as some plugins work fine without converting (or at least as far as reports go) , maybe it would work anyhow

as for the assets , I don't know of any tool for backwards porting (from SE to LE) , so I don't know if the assets from SE will work for LE

but if you still have the LE assets , and the only issue is the plugin , this is irrelevant

best thing you could do is ask someone you trust to test your new LE version for you , or to do it yourself and verify

I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone else with this conundrum , so I'm afraid I can't provide more meaningful information

It's not possible to backport from SE to LE. Form 44 is not understood by the older game and you'll just end up with corrupted saves as a result of trying. Plus LE will not be able to read meshes in SSE format either.

it is definitely possible because I've done it myself quite successfully. Here's how:

if it has esp:
create a blank form version 43 plugin in tes5edit
now open it in SSEEdit and copy records from the source. (copied records will have form version 44 in the header but the game still recognizes them)
it now should work as it is but u can also resave it in classic CK
Again, I did this myself with potions patcher for zzawesome potionsxx and CACO. I've been using these mods for months, if not a year now without any issues.

Sorry, but I don't care what sorcery you want to claim works. It doesn't. The end result is going to corrupt the saves of anyone using that mod if you even manage to get the CK to load it at all. I do not for one second buy the line that anyone who has done this hasn't had issues. It's much more likely that they have but have no idea what's causing them because people make bogus claims about their mod not being the problem so they go look for some other hapless mod author to blame for it. Like, say, the one who made the original mod correctly instead of trying to hack something they knew would never work,.

@r02B

Open Tes5Edit

Copy something simple (like a piece of armor or something) as overwrite into a new .esp

delete just the thing you copied (the piece of armor from the example) but keep the .esp

continue as I mentioned above

@Arthmoor

It really doesnt matter if you buy it or not particularly if you havent even done it. It was suggested to me via reddit, I tried it with potions patch, it worked. Fact. Two playthroughs later, no issues. Now in my defense, this was a patch and didnt involve meshes, but I did it, and it worked. Plead your case all you want, but the fact is that it worked for me. The only real bogus claim is your being stuck in something you supposedly knew, discrediting me without even an attempt at this, and possible refusal to learn something.

You assume much. I have in fact attempted this on several occasions, and every single attempt has met with failure. That you are using methods gleaned from Reddit is all the proof I need that you're willing to accept bogus claims at face value. That sub is full of them and they're all easily proven to be not only wrong, but dangerous if actually used on a real game. Trusting anything that's said there is like trusting a politician not to have lied to you.

IMO advocating things that will destroy someone's game should be enough to get you banned from the site, but that's not my call to make, so there we are.

You've attempted this technique? What was it you were saying about bogus claims? Because that sure sounds like a bit of projection there. And seriously, who are you that you can judge people who post on reddit or anywhere else with your self-created standards of excellence? Your stuff smells just like the rest of them. Maybe those failures you had were user error. Some of us know how to do things correctly.

That being said, you're opinions aren't really amounting to much. Seems like you'd rather tell someone "no" as opposed to being correct about something. PS Nice passive-aggressive statement about the whole "breaking" someone's game, btw. I don't know who you associate with, but that's not how I work. Some of us genuinely want to help people and don't get off on saying "no" or "breaking people's saves". I think your slandering someone on this site, and making up false claims of breaking peoples games with something that you obviously never have done is more of a cause for ban, IMHO. But as you mentioned, that's not my call to make.

That being said: It's worked for me for two play-through without incident. Fact. Get over it. Move on. Rinse & repeat.
