Skyrim lore-friendly player home with a Khajiit theme

"Dar'Zha has heard many people wonder why Khajiit walk around Skyrim so much. He knows why: no-one builds us houses.

Yes, there is one house he has seen and it is very beautiful, almost perfect - just like home. A bit too much like home, though. Dar'Zha wonders how they managed to create a tropical beach with palm trees in a snowy fjord. The houses for Bosmer, Redguards and Argonians blend in a bit better, no?

'May you walk on warm sands' does not refer to Elsweyr. In truth, Khajiit just wants a good place to put the kitty litter."

---

Khajiit players have been fortunate in having had some top-quality immersive mods for the cat people: a Khajiit follower (Inigo), Khajiit children (Ma-Rakha and Maisha) a Khajiit player voice (Khajiit Speak), and of course, an adventure - Moon Path to Elsweyr - taking us all the way to the homeland. So the Khajiit experience has not exactly been lacking.

However, there is one thing that has not quite closed the circle - player homes.

It's hard to roleplay a Khajiit immigrant to Skyrim in houses that just don't seem to reflect in any way the highly distinctive cultural background of the occupant (and it's a bit awkward explaining sabre cat fur rugs to the children).

Lorewise, a player Khajiit is basically one of the only member of his race to prosper independently in Fourth Age Skyrim; to enter cities to applause rather than rotten fruit. If he can shout like a dragon, he must have a Nord soul right?

But I don't think that being a unique member of the province's most-maligned race means that he has to blend in completely and lose his cultural identity - if anything, some high status player Khajiit might even take the opportunity afforded by their high status to act as cultural ambassadors.

My non-main quest Khajiit character travels Skyrim as a popular bard with his friend Inigo. He is tolerated - even celebrated - in the inns of Skyrim because his quick fingers on the lute strings have become better known than his race's reputation for putting their quick fingers into other people's pockets. (He has never been caught making his patron's pockets a little lighter, anyway...) His access to urban folk has also allowed him to build relationships with legitimate business interests, and with his caravan connections he has become a moderately successful business-cat.

I'm not asking for a massive castle. That would seem rather out of character for any Khajiit, even if they did decide to follow their destiny and become the biggest name in the country. Nor am I asking for a scratch-designed home that looks like it took a stroll up the moonpath from Elsweyr. Rather, what I'm looking for is an answer to this question - if a Khajiit settled in Skyrim and became modestly successful, what would their home look like?

Think along the lines of a Riften cat-burglar's bolt-hole with a false floor for hiding the latest skooma shipment; a Solitude gem merchant's home lit by Elsweyr oil-lamps (apparently he knows someone very high up in the East Empire Company); a Falkreath bard's retreat (available for funerals!) with a lute beside the hearth and a tapestry of the moons above it; a little trade-house on the Khajiit caravan routes (skooma sold under the counter); or all of these at once - whatever form it takes is of course up to you, as long as it doesn't look out of place. It would help if it had enough space for a follower/spouse and a child. I'd also rather not have too many mannequins as they frankly freak me out (and they look human anyway).

My Khajiit very much looks the part in his Regal Assassin's Armor. Please take up this challenge so that his house may appear likewise.
