Fog of war

So, maps are quite big and the map image is 100% useless in showing where I've already been and where not. I've walked on a path on a mountain, but also the nearby path (that I had not walked in) is unveiled from the map image.

Is there a way to see an actual fog of war WHILE PLAYING? Not in the map image, but in real-time game.

Something like this:

So I can actually see where I've walked and where not.

You lost me. The "fog of war" does obscure the map areas you haven't explored until you've been there. And no, AFAIK there is no mod that restricts the view, on the map or "while playing". Just one that eliminates the FoW completely.

You are able to see things for a certain distance, even if you don't actually walk right on them. So paths that are near where you are walking will be seen on the map, just as they were seen when you looked at them.

The "top-down, limited to a few feet around the characters" view as in your pic wouldn't be appropriate for DAI anyway. Part of the beauty of this particular game is being able to see the world around you. And I know that in the real world I can see a whole lot further than a few body-lengths, which is all the above displays.

Actually it only obscure the image-map (as said, not with enough precision), not the environment I see while moving my pc.

In real life, I don't need to collect all the damn herbs near my feet, in game I have to. So, knowing if I've already walked on the path on the other side of the rock is mandatory.

@Vaalyah; But those same herbs you collect *this* time you walk the path will be back in the same spot *next* time. If leaving them bothers you, you may have a loooong game ahead of you!

(Or at least you may want to look into the mod Quicker Looting. )

So, neither this system is good to actually see where I had already walked, great...
