Starting new.

Good day to you all,

It's been quite a while since I last played the game. I remember it well and recently I got in the mood to replay it. So I wanted to ask what are some mods I need to have? I tend to cluster my game with mods, but since I resetted my pc I rather don't want to spam it full anymore (the game and the pc hehe).

Is there something like a "This 20 Mods you need to play with!" list?
What are your favorite mods that make the gameplay "fresh" and interesting?

Sincerly: SergeantSchmidt

Since you've already played the game, how can you request possibly make any sense. Each person who heavily mods FO4 does so to make the game more to THEIR taste. NO "20 essential mods" list can read YOUR mind.

For someone NEW to the game, some mods can universally be recommended. But not to a veteran player. However, that being said, I would recommend you research SIM SETTLEMENTS and the iNPC project. Both block add massive improvements to the core game in a way i'd consider easy to apply and uncontroversial with respect to gameplay modification.

'More combat' mods seem to have failed, killed by the dreadfully broken single-threaded script system and dreadfully broken cell system of the engine. More advanced locational improvement mods seem to have finally fixed the 'combine object' issue that tanked framerate where these mods altered a cell.

Myself, I like the idea of MORE STUFF on a new playthru, and a lot of these type of mods now seem mature enough. Apart from Sim Settlements, gameplay overhauls seem a non-starter - much smaller gameplay tweaks seem to be where it's at.

PS there's a LOT of Youtube channels reviewing FO4 mods - on this forum there's a lot of OCD comment from peeps who have micro-modded aspects of their game (good for them) in ways that just lack general appeal. Yet such people do not seem to notice that what they like won't have broad appeal- so they recommend their own choices regardless.

People who play the game, then a long time after try to return do so imagining they can have the same 'fun' once again. The OCD mods just won't work for this type of gamer. The more content and better looking content MIGHT, especially if the gamer now has a better rig.

Why do people ask this question? Just go to the full mods list on the FO4 nexus and order it by number of endorsements. That tells you what the overall community thinks are good mods. Simple. Asking the question in here will give you individual opinions, which are less useful.

Well, I wouldn't go on mods like that because it's a bit older game. For an example lighting mod Enhanced Lights and FX have 13k endorsments but it's older and I have issues with fps with it, on other side Stalker Lights Sweet Fx and ENB have 4k endorsments + Enb and I don't have fps issues with it.

You are making my point for me. "You" have issues with it. Who cares. It's specific to your hardware and mod setup. Are you suggesting that random people do what you do because somehow you know best? The best strategy is still to look at the most endorsed mods. That doesn't mean you take the top 20 and use them all. It's a starting point. You have to find out what is best for your particular setup. That takes effort. It's not as simple as just asking in a forum "what are the best mods".

Why do you have something against questions. If you don't want to answer and try to help, then just skip that topic. I have Pc with I can play FO4 on ultra but in Vanilla, but with mods there is always some issues.

Mods are still making and how do you know that some mod that was made today wouldn't have more endorsement after 1 month, then some mod that is here for years?

And I didn't told him which mods to use, I just showed him which is my favorites, but I agree that some mod that causes me trouble, wouldn't cause to someone else...but again, why not to show him which mods are good as the ones that have the most endorsements?

Because attitudes like yours I stopped making mods for the third time...

This is nonsense, filled with false premises and misinformation. If you had any reading comprehension skills, you would see that I did, in fact, answer the question. Nothing you said in here refutes my basic point. In fact, you seem to be purposefully ignoring it so that you can push your own talking points. As for your last sentence, apparently you like to blame random people you know nothing about for your own shortcomings, such as an inability to complete things that you start.

EDIT: I just read an SSE topic where someone gave the same advice to someone that I gave in this topic. It's also exactly what I did after I installed FO4 and SSE. It's the most sensible thing to do, at least as a starting point. One can always ask for more suggestions later after deciding what direction to go with the game.
