Nexus Mod Manager 0.65

I had been using NMM 0.63 for about 10 months, heavily modding Skyrim Special Edition without problems. Today I decided to update my NMM for some more modding and installed NMM 0.65. Initially the app seemed to work at least well enough for the program to run and allow scanning for games but it got stuck there after scanning finished showing the message below. Now simply restarting NMM 0.65 throws up this message -

Nexus Mod Manager is not set up to work with Skyrim Special Edition.

If Skyrim Special Edition is installed, rescan for installed games from the Change Game toolbox item.

The Catch22 is that I can't rescan if NMM won't run. What am I to do? I've not dared to fully uninstall NMM because of the risk of messing with my installed mods. I've tried several installs of different NMM versions, always installing over the top of the last one installed. I suspect I must install NMM in a new path. But would that mess up my modded game?

I dread reinstalling everything including the game and all my mods as there is weeks of work with that option.

The fault appears to lie with NMM and I need some hints on what to try next. Thanks.

actually installing version 063.x into a new distination folder wouldn't affect your current mod setup, what will happen is it behaves like a complete new install of NMM you'll have to move files from certain folders of your old install over to the new install one of those folders is Install Info the other is Mods. this will take a bit of time since your basically moving all your mods from one install to the other the files in Install info will tell the new install which mods have been install and in what order so techicinally you won't lose all your hard work.

btw you can find the folders i mention in Games\Nexus Mod Manager\SkyrimSE\Mods and Games\Nexus Mod Manager\SkyrimSE\Install Info . Actual location will depend which drive you've installed NMM to.

One small Cavat, you do this at your own risk , I don't perceive any problems doing this but then i've never ran into a problem that required that I do over in such a extreme way.
