A checklist:

1) Nifmerge only works for Oldrim.

2) Did you Ctrl-F4 on the NPC records before merging?

3) Did you load your .esp with the NPC changes after everything else that modifies the same NPCs? If you are uncertain load this .esp last.

Hope this helps.

I am currently using oldrim. i believe i did control F4 before merging is there any way to reset in case i didnt?, my esp is currently the last one.

also when i nifmerge i do get this message: "Some headparts were not found in headparts.csv. you should consider running the optional TES5Edit script with all your plugins selected and update this file. some elements will not have a defined type pre-assigned" does this have anything to do with my issues?

Now I am not sure what you did. In all my experience of nif-merging I have never come across that message. Maybe I'll just outline my way of doing it.

1) Fire up the CK with my Master NPC Plugin (Yes i have one).

2) Make new hairline and hair headparts (same hairstyle as the exported racemenu nif. If it is a KS hairstyle if can be found under : meshes\KS hairdo's\),

3) Open the NPC record I want to edit. Change the weight and height (if desired), skintone (must match the racemenu skintone). Change the hair to the one I just made.

4) Close the record and save.

5) Ctrl-F4 on the record

6) Nifmerge the racemenu nif to the NPC nif.

7) Replace the NPC facetint file with the one from racemenu (use the NPC file ID)

And there you have it. Works everytime with default races.

As far as I know, if you use MO or the latest NMM, you will need to package your plugin, facegeom and facetint files into a zip file and add it to the mod manager as a mod. Activate this mod and load it after all other NPC modifiers.

I use an old version of NMM (53.2) which is an overwriting mod manager. All changes made are 'current' and will show up as long as my Master plugin is in my load order.

Hope this is somewhat clear.

Good luck!

ok, how do i match the skintone when there are only a few preset skin tones to be used in ck.

also what should the path for my textures and meshes be. should my mesh be in /MyMod/meshes/FaceGenData/FaceGeom, or should i add a 'MyMod.esp' folder after that and add the mesh files in there

In Racemenu, there are default skintones (0-9 I believe). Skintone 0 in RM = skintone 1 in the CK and so on. If you use a custom skintone in RM (eg, 255, 255, 255) make sure you also adjust to this in the CK (pull down the skintone tab and select custom, then change the RGB values manually).

Paths for vanilla NPCs should be :

meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\skyrim.esm\

textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\skyrim.esm\

Happy modding.
