Crashing when encountering Vampires

Hey Guys,

 

First time posting here, having an issue with my modded oblivion at the moment. Almost everytime I encounter vampires I CTD.

This has happened both in Barren Cave and Bloodvein Mine's, sometimes I can get it to work by repeatably reloading the save and entering the area again for the first time, but that only works about 1/10 times and the only way to check if it works is to get into combat, usually resulting in my death and forcing me to reload the area anyway. Aside from when I encounter vamps I haven't crashed unless I alt + tab a lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if this can be fixed without getting rid of my save that would be perfect but I'm happy to lose it if I can continue questing on future saves.

I’m not familiar with all your mods, but I’m guessing you have a vampire mod that’s causing a conflict. Look into how to make a clean save, then you can test by disabling possible troublemakers one at a time and seeing if that takes care of your crashes.

Hey. Pretty long time since last post but I've encountered exactly the same problem. I have similar mods to You @wdg2. In general I have been using mods from Sinitar's guide:

By trial and error found out that TRAP is the mod causing the crashes. Havent tried TRAP itself only yet, cause It might take some time to get to any Vampire dungeon (probably the best shot would be the Azura's quest with cleaning the Gutted Mine).

 

TRAP isolated (basic Oblivion.esm + Fundament as required by TRAP) is working fine. Cleared out whole Gutted Mine without issues. Next to try with combination of some additional mods.

 

I have also checked TRAP in relation to other mods I have and I must say with regret it I haven't found any issues. As a conclusion, TRAP is causing problems in combination with more (and probably some specific) mods or just one mod but in the environment of other mods turned on.

 

The last thing was to check what mods in relation to TRAP is causing problems. It turns out that having all mods enabled except Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul) is working great. Final conclusion is that having all mods enabled causes TRAP and Maskars Oblivion Overhaul to crash the game.

 

Solution: Turn of (temporarily) TRAP, when entering Vampire Caves.
