LOOT & Priority Order

Hello guys.

My LOOT insists that I place EBD above XP32 MSE in priority order. I know that some things are allowed to overwrite the MSE but I also know that NOTHING overwrites the MSE.

Since I am very new to modding and and only began to grasp the thought of understanding how some things work, I'm trying to be very careful and avoid another PC wipe.

I placed EBD bellow MSE in priority & ran the game, everything seems to work fine, but perhaps LOOT knows better and there is a disaster waiting for me in a long run, I've no idea...

So, tell me please, should I allow LOOT update my order in MO ('cause it really wanna) and if not, how do I stop it from insisting?

Also, any tips on Loading Order will be greatly appreciated.

~Thank you.

I think you're confusing the plugin and the mesh. When using XPMSE, it's important that nothing overwrites the skeleton mesh or you'll have weird skeleton problems. If you use mod manager, move the XPMSE mod folder to the bottom of the list. I dont think the plugin order is critical for XP. I recommend let LOOT sort the plugin order as it wishes unless you know what you're doing, and you have a good reason to contradict.

Nope, I've no idea what I'm doing and all this shtuf is very confusing to me.

So let me clarify this. In Plugins (on the right), the LOOT can prioritise as its wishes, but on the left I move the mods following instructions and common sense, right?

Yes, it's confusing but sounds like you got it. You're certainly not alone in getting confused. The folder list on the left represents the order in which mods would be installed if you were installing them from scratch. Mod Organizer makes it easy to change the order without actually reinstalling. When there's a conflict, the lower one overwrites the upper one. I think xpmse is the only one that I install in reverse order--install everything that uses the skeleton first, then the skeleton last.

LOOT is an essential tool for load order but it is not perfect. It is wise to read the mod authors suggestions as to load order and in most cases follow them. Changing the load order on the left pane in LOOT is really quite simple.

For instance many times LOOT will load Hothtroopers Armor Compilation before Armor Ecksstra. To correct this so that you do not have to move the esps every time you run LOOT you double click on Armor Compilation in the left pane, a menu will come up on the esp in the right pane, click on "load after" in that menu then drag and drop Armor Ecksstra from the left pane into the Armor Compilation in the right pane, click on the blue icon in the Armor compilation in the right pane and you are done. You will have to run "sort mods" again so that Ecksstra will load before Compilation but from then on that is the way they will run every time you use LOOT.

You can change the meta data like that to change the load order for any esp that you want. If you want to clear that metadata, in the left pane of the esp that has had it's metadata changed, in this case Armor Compilation, there will be an icon that looks sort of like a person if you hover over it with your mouse it will say "has user metadata". Go to that esp in the right pane and click on the three dots, this will give you the option to clear that metadata.
