Question for people who use adult non lore-friendly content.

This is a genuine question I have. How come the most popular mods on the Skyrim/Fallout nexuses are sexy/skimpy follower mods and general non lore-friendly content? I don't get it, what do you get out of it? How can someone enjoy a Bethesda game when your follower has balloon tits with a Frostmourne? I genuinely don't get it. Normally, I wouldn't care about how people play their games but seeing as those types of mods are the most popular on the Nexus, a lot of people seem to have no problem with playing a completely different game they actually bought. If someone would want a shuriken mod from the Naruto series, why not just go play a Naruto game? If you want your character to look like Cloud from Final Fantasy, why not just go play Final Fantasy? In my mind, Skyrim is Skyrim and Fallout is Fallout.

This is mainly a question for the people who use these type of mods but all types of people are welcome to help me make sense of it. I'm genuinely curious.

Whether I support or don't support these type of mods, i will say this

I don't think this is a question that should be asked on a public forum by a total stranger

I will say this, EVERY female companion / follower i download and use in any game is for the extra content - get your mind out of the gutter lol - what I meann by that are followers like:

Skyrim

Vilja, Viconia, Mirai, AMbriel, Hanali, Sofia, Recorder, Tania, & Danariel

FONV

Delilah, Willow, Niner, Vanessa, Wendy, & The Storyteller

Fallout 3

Brisa, Jesse, Kelsey, Vanessa

Falloiut 4

Heather, Ellen, Nora, T0-R1, & Rose

and several others ALL have one thing in common, EVERY single one of them adds quests to the game they are for. I won't use a follower / companion mod unless they meet a list of my own Criteria which includes - Content, quests, and MOST of the time, custom voice ( a few exceptions on that one like Nora, and one other i can't remember )

Because the characters created by Bethesda look like the south end of a northbound cow.

Because these are single player games and the player determines the lore of the game.

Because we appreciate the beauty of the human body.

Because we can.

I'd slightly agree with you on this but also disagree. Certain mods improves and others don't.

Because these are single player games and the player determines the lore of the game.

No. Just because it's a single player game doesn't automatically give the player the power to determine the lore. Certain things are lore-friendly for a reason.

Because we appreciate the beauty of the human body.

I doubt it.

Because we can.

I get it, but can you answer why?

Simple, they want those kind of mods. They have preferences... just like you who prefers Skyrim as Skyrim and Fallout as Fallout. Playing Skyrim or Fallout with big tits follower is thrilling and fun to some people. Installing mods that related to their favorite anime/game/what-so-ever-stuff into Skyrim or Fallout is fun and enjoyable for some people.

Can't help it. You may blame the game developers for allowing their game to get modified by people. It is their fault that we can mod the hell out of Skyrim and Fallout games.

Oh, I don't blame Bethesda or modders at all. Being able to mod their games this extensively is amazing. What I don't get is why one would want to have those mods. I mean, in my mind, it ruins the game completely and removes the feel. Idk, maybe I'm ignorant but I just don't see what people get out of it, playing their games that way. Immersion-breaking to the max.

thanks for asking a complex metapredicate hypothetical,

Skagens, its a real bundle of a question,

this is great to see as normally

such exegetical metareflexive 'post-structural' chats are held in Journals or at academic contexts.

may I say, I also appreciate the '4th wall continuity-error/suspension of disbelief/verisimilitude" & "Ship-of-Theseus Restoration/Resemblance" paradox you allude to alongside "what is continuity?"

I approach from a more academic theoretic-prerogative.

being that I don't presently have many if any of such mods installed,

with exception being for "Strumpets & Gigolos of the Wasteland", as, that adds to the lore.

and, had been a feature of prior Fallouts notably FO1, Tactics and the Roleplaying Games.

------

I think it's a function of modder demography with respect to time,

though this will likely change in futures with AGI-assisted mods development.

however, intrinsically

the thing-itself is a roleplaying game. which connotes a certain 'whimsy' or Surrealist Escapist facet IMHO.

that's an important context. whimsy and escapism are subjective, which are relative to individuals.

Further, I support modders and gamers in their quest

to go for customization, options

and to make their characters as they envisage it.

Beings come in different forms and configurations -

in Fallout, there's mutants, aliens etc

in Skyrim, there's magical beings, shapeshifters etc.

I find gaming to be a fun pastime and I want folks from all walks of life

to be able to play the game with an avatar that resembles what they envisage (where possible).

To that end, I support better regionalizations and ethnicity phenotypes mods,

so as gamers from all walks of life and backgrounds

can make custom avatars which resemble them if they wish.

Historically, there were a number of obstacles towards that -

technical limitations, AGILE/LEAN just-in-time 'rapid prototyped' partially completed projects with outsourcing crowdsourced content farming, etc.

though that abates over time.

even that has a context -

historically, look at the analogous "Transliteration in games from one region to another'

a whole new voice over team was needed etc, often with extensive 'reshoots' and re-edit of the game to make it function within the other regionalization.

that made 'derivative content'/'spinoffs' which didn't actually resemble closely to the thing itself.

Monoculture/Globalism etc has altered that substantially as has advances in automation.

I find it extremely funny that Skagens completely ignored my post

*shrug* oh well

Oh right, I forgot about your post when I wrote the reply to M4, sorry.

I looked up a few of the followers you noted. The few a looked up are just regular followers. I don't mind regular followers, what I'm talking about is completely lore/immersion breaking mods, be they follower or any other mods. I get a few followers have actual backstories and the npc's themselves are interesting. My question was primarily for the people who use followers such as the on in the picture I posted. That's what I don't get. How could on want to play their game that way?

Personally, I don't use follower mods at all simply because I prefer playing alone, but I'd still like to understand why the football-tittied hourglass figure tattooed gorehowl-wielding followers are so popular.

ok time to be blunt - that's a warning to all of you that have "delicate" ears and eyes lol

There are "some" people who don't even play the game, they use mods like the one you pointed out for "extra curricular" activities

They just load in the mods they need, the followers, and sit there doing "stuff" lol

There are 2 websites that I know of that cater to that type of thing, and I am positive that there are more, just never bothered to go looking lol

Sadly, there are people like that, shrug, to each their own I say
