FNIS "Bad Installation" problem

Hello everyone,

I was looking for resolution of my issue one reddit and in skyrim community forums and I did not find a solution directly for my issue. I've moved recently all my games files from Program Files x86 directory to another path to avoid problems with UAC in future, however, after completing the process I'm unable to update my animations with FNIS (I've installed few additional animations mods before moving whole game to new directory and wanted to update) error log I'm getting is as follows:

FNIS Behavior V7.4.5 01.09.2018 18:32:58
Generator: C:\Users\eless\Desktop\Skyrim Ważne\ModOrganizer\Skyrim\mods\Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe
>>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from <Skyrim_Data>\Tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users. If you use a mod manager, run FNIS from its list of supported tools.<<
Skyrim 32bit: ??.??.?? - C:\Greg\Gry\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam)
Expected generator path: C:\Greg\Gry\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users
Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones) male: Default (99 bones)
Patch: "GENDER Specific Animations"
Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"
Patch: "HKX File Compatibility Check Skyrim/SSE"

All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files...
No GENDER directory male
No GENDER directory female
Alternate Animation mods: 0 sets: 0 total groups: 0 added file slots: 0 alternate files: 0
Creature Pack not installed
0 animations for 1 mods successfully included (character).
1 Warning(s).
I cannot find what is wrong with my directory as I was trying to run FNIS from my data directory as well as from executables via MO. I am almost 100% sure it is not a mod order issue but messed files paths. I would really like not to uninstall my game, but if it will be the only way to fix this I will have to...
FYI
All necessary mods regarding skeleton changes (XPMSE), animations (Immersive Animations and few others like FNIS PCEA 2, Realistic Animation Project: Idles and Movement), physics (HDT Physics) + Dual Sheath Redux are on place and correctly installed.
I would really appreciate help
Cheers!

FNIS Behavior V7.4.5 01.09.2018 22:14:36

Skyrim 32bit: 1.9.32.0 - C:\Greg\Gry\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam)

ERROR(76): Could not find a part of the path „C:\Greg\Gry\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\temporary_logs\”.

This is the whole output when running via MO tools. Tried as administrator as well, no success.

@Edit

tools file with sub-folders and GenerateFNISforUsers.exe were copied and pasted to data folder earlier.

And that's an MO issue. A perfectly formed path requested by FNIS is not served by MO.

I can't tell why MO is doing that to you. Maybe you have moved your UAC problems by moving files from the UAC path. Instead of newly creating them.

Another possible cause I know from MO2. This error can occur if you have your MO2 mod folder inside of Skyrim\Data. But I don't know if this also applies to MO as well. And your mod folder doesn't seem to be located under Skyrim\data.

I've found a solution! And I could have forseen it was f****ng simple as hell haha XD

Here what was the issue:

Directory could not be found due to not complete uninstallation of the mod when I was trying to get it working again. Single files was left in main game directory Skyrim\Data, few meshes, few scripts and txt files of fnis that were still there after uninstalling FNIS via MO2. After deleting these remaining files I've got FNIS to initialize the whole process without errors.

To conclude "ERROR(76) Could not find part of the path" might be result of incorrect uninstallation of all mod components. Solution to this is relatively simple so do not lose your minds fellow modders.

Hope this post will help to fix this problem if someone is facing it.

Here you go with current outcome of FNIS behavior generator:

THere is no "same thing". You did something wrong during installation, and the FNIS output is needed to find out. ALWAYS!

chill dude, why wouldn't there be a same thing. I have the "same thing" with with SE and Vortex right about now. Don't believe me? You check if it's the same:

FNIS Behavior V7.4.5 XXL 11/01/2019 7:02:37 PM
Generator: D:\vortex\skyrimSE\Data\FNIS Behavior SE 7_4_5 XXL-3038-7-4-5\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe
>>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from <Skyrim_Data>\Tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users. If you use a mod manager, run FNIS from its list of supported tools.<<
Skyrim SE 64bit: ??.??.?? - D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\ (Steam)
Expected generator path: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users
Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones) male: Default (99 bones)
Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"
Reading FNISBase V7.4.5 ...
All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files...
Alternate Animation mods: 0 sets: 0 total groups: 0 added file slots: 0 alternate files: 0
Creature Pack not installed
0 animations for 1 mods successfully included (character).
1 Warning(s).

And don't tell people they've installed things wrong, I've installed FNIS and modded skyrim SE and oldrim tens of times before this, it's not only you that knows what they are doing.

So thank you FanOfDestruction, I finally have an answer for what is going on. Now to figure out which "few meshes, few scripts and txt files..." are the remaining parts of my previous uninstallation in this mess of mods. :ermm:

And what do YOU tell us? Installed FNIS and so on tens of times, and still don't understand what it means when "Generator" path and "Expected generator path" are different?

There are hundreds of people who failed dozens of ways before you. Although most of the times it turns out to be bad installation of FNIS. Like in your case. But without detailed data I have one problem: my crystal ball is out of order. Now I see much clearer: you didn't set "Target" and/or "Start in" properly when configuring FNIS in Vortex.
