Thank you for not having inappropriate and/or annoying Ads

This isn't a question or a suggestion, but a very non-sarcstic thank you for the person who allows and/or limits what kind of Ads are displayed to the users. I was browsing the mod selection when I noticed the Ad for a delicious looking hoagie. You'd think "Meh, Ads are bad no matter what.", but they are a necessary evil for keeping websites like this around, and seeing that sub sandwich was a huge breath of fresh air when it comes to the mountains of porn, hentai, and political Ads that I am sure most of us are fed up with. When I first noticed the Ad I shoved my finger at my monitor and almost shouted "That's the kind of Ads I want to see more often!". Seems strange, but I was genuinely surprised and believe it's the nice little things like this that make people happy. So major kudos.

PS: Yes, I have an Ad-Blocker installed, and chose to allow Ads to be shown on the Nexus website to support the people running it.

Well, there's a refreshing change. We deliberately try and partner with people who run their own sites and use the same ads on their sites as they do on ours. Theory being that they wouldn't want crap all over their own sites so it won't end up on ours either.

They don't always get it right, but thankfully, for the most part, they strike the right balance.

I wish I could say the same. I keep an adblocker on at all times these days. I came here without even thinking about it and saw the "please don't block us" message, and thought: "Of course, I'll unblock you! This site is awesome! I'm so embarrassed that I cheated you out of a few fractional pennies just now!" I unblocked the site from the main page and was instantly highjacked and blasted with ads. The page literally disappeared and I found myself on a page screeching malware alerts at me. It was kind of shocking really. Amusing in a sad way, like when you see a mime trapped in a revolving door...still doing that "I'm stuck in a box" routine. Of note, Ghostery shows me 10 trackers on the main nexus mods page (including some rather rancid looking ones) and only 4 on this page (mostly google and facebook). Apparently we can rant in peace.

I've never been too offended by ads. I even remember the good old days when I'd read an actual magazine and see an ad while casually turning pages and think: "Oh! That's a stylish new car your selling there. My, them young attractive people look happy with their cigarettes! Maybe I WILL by myself another box of frozen cheesecake." I didn't mind those ads because I was viewing them (or not) on my own terms and they didn't destroy the purpose of the magazine. It also helped that they were actual ads, for real products, not malware, scams, and filth. If I can't use your site AT ALL without being attacked then unblocking really isn't an option. I'm definitely not going to donate real money for an ad (malware) free experience - that sounds like one of those old-timey mafia protection rackets.

Meh. Maybe it was all just a big misunderstanding and it was my own filth bubbling out of the depths of my Firefox and not really your site. Either way, I'll bust out the malware soap and a toothbrush and spend a few minutes puking into the recycle bin. Maybe I'll try again some day but only once and then I'm done for good.

Dang!! How do I post a kudo to this fine fellow? The thing is that I hate ads period. But Robin needs the loot to keep this site running. It aint cheap. So I became a paid Supporter on the site and then a Lifetime Member in order to support a place that has given me so much joy. It is good to see another appreciative user. Thank you!!

that is actually just as likely an issue on your end, not the sites. a lot of adware garbage could be on your computer that you are unaware of.
