BIJIN MODS RUINING MY LIFE

I am relatively new to modding. By that I mean I've been modding skyrim for less than a week, and am playing skyrim on pc for the first time. Up until now, I've been able to successfully install mods, and run my game with them. Any problem I've encountered I've been able to solve myself, and gotten right back to it. Until. Now. I installed the three main bijin mods. Bijin Wives, Warmaidens, and NPCs. But for some reason, I can't get them to work properly. They work for the most part, at least in whiterun. I haven't double checked every npc in the game, but whiterun has one example from each mod for me to look at, so I didn't think that was needed. When I load in, things are fine at first. Adrienne/blacksmith lady? Hot as her forge. Check. Ysolda? Hotter than ever. Then I go into the Bannered Mare. Hulda has the hair provided by the mod, but with her horrendous vanilla face. Same for Uthgerd, except while having the new hair, it's missing it's texture and just shows up as purple. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this. I uninstalled and reinstalled the mods, I de- and re- activated them. I de- and re-activated ALL my mods. I downloaded the AIO addon, and followed the instructions. I moved them to the top and the bottom of my load order, which I saw some people recommend as a solution to other problems they encountered with the mods, but to no avail. Doing that only switched the problem around- characters that had had ugly face were now hot, yes, but the characters who were once hot were then ugly. The only mods I currently have installed and activated that change appearance in ANY way are KS Hairdos, The Eyes of Beauty, RaceMenu, and the CBBE body. I haven't tried running the game without at least RaceMenu and KS Hairdos, because I used those to make my character, and the game just crashes without them. I'm at the end of my rope here. I have other mods active but they're only ones that affect weather, and landscape and textures. And the textures are only for the world, they don't change clothing or faces. I have other mods that affect appearances downloaded at the moment, but none of them are active. I haven't been able to find anything else about this problem anywhere online, and I don't know what to do. It might be something really simple, but again. I've been modding this game for less than a week. I'm big dumb. Send help. I'm going insane trying to fix this.

here are pictures from my game showing both the characters that the mod is and isn't working for:

Some information about NPC faces that may help you find the conflict...

When an NPC's face is edited, its face data needs to be exported. When exported there are texture files created and mesh files created.

Textures are found here: Skyrim > Data > Textures > Actors > Character > Facegendata > Facetint > "plugin.ext" > FormID#.dds

Meshes are found here: Skyrim > Data > Meshes > Actors > Character > Facegendata > Facegeom > "plugin.ext" > FormID#.nif

where "plugin.ext" is the actual plugin with its extension. i.e. Skyrim.esm

where FormID# is 8 digit hex number that corresponds to the actor's record in the Creation Kit. The first two digits used for load order are always 00 as the folder name tells the game which plugin to look within for the matching record.

Here then is the issue:

If an NPC from the base game is edited, its new face gen data will be exported as a loose file under the Skyrim.esm sub-folder and not a folder named after the plugin which edited it. Some authors will pack these files inside a BSA which loads with the plugin (unless using the first Mod Organizer) or they will leave them as loose files.

Therefore if you have multiple mods that affect the appearance of the same NPC, the last one whose files get loaded is the one that will appear in your game. But if you have one that is inactive but installed loose files, those loose files will still take priority over anything that may be inside of a BSA.

Alright so perhaps you are using a mod manager with virtualization techniques and does not put any actual files in the data folder, the same situation can apply depending upon how that mod manager handles installed but inactive mods. Furthermore, if you are using the first Mod Organizer, it would load BSA files according to the left pane priority window rather than with their respective plugin. This would allow BSAs to override loose files and cause more confusion to the unwary.

As a result, you may wish to test out the scenario of fully uninstalling any mods that affect NPC appearances beyond these specific ones that you are trying to get working.

Make sure the Bijin ESP files are below other mods/patches that could be effecting the NPCs you are having problems with. TES5Edit can help you in seeing what plug ins you are using are doing what if you want to watch a couple youtube videos on how to use it.

If you are using a mod manager try doing manual install if you are still having problems. Personally i do not use the All in One version of Bijins as ive had problems when i have. I install Warmaidens, Wives and NPCs each with their own plug in instead.
