Vortex Mods don't load

So I have imported my NMM mods into Vortex, afterwards I removed NMM mods, settings,...

The installation with my mods worked fine, everything is active, plugins too. The strange thing is almost half of my mods don't load. Would like to know what the issue, is it like load order or what is it?

My rule of thumb: Don't start NMM after you have imported mods into Vortex - and most important, don't delete mods in NMM after the import.

If Vortex sees mod files get deleted from the game directory, it will helpfully delete the same files from your Mods folder.

Start Vortex and use the option to open your mod with File Explorer. See is the data files are still there.

If not, your only choice is to reinstall the mod from archive. That might mean downloading it again.

Just for interest, you might indicate where you are located.

And try to download the same file without using Vortex. See if that fails.

I remember some other case of this network problem - but I don't remember the resolution. VPN required or something, if not a password problem.

Someone will soon give you an actual useful answer.

I am trying to install and mod fallout 3 with vortex.
Each time I select to download a mod from the Nexus page in Vortex one of two things always happens.
The downloads partially to about 20% and then stop and never downloads, or I get a message straight away that it has failed.
When I inspect it the reason is: "message: read ECONNRESET" is this an issue with Vortex or some setting
How to fix this??? please help

Although I cannot offer a solution to your problem, I can provide some information that may help you locate the source of the problem.

As rmm200 has suggested, you may have some sort of network issue. I say that because I myself have no download problems whatever while using Vortex for Fallout 3. As rmm200 also mentioned, a similar network problem has been discussed somewhere in these Vortex forums. I remember reading about it several weeks ago, but I don't remember the solution and where the discussion is located. Perhaps an answer to your question lies in that discussion thread.

As meager as this information is, I do hope it's of some help to you.

  • 2 years later...

I suspect a malware anchor. It may get updated in a month or so with a trojan link.

Thank your for your comment. With "malware anchor" I now have the proper term to use when I report suspected malware attempts. Lately I've been seeing an increased number of malware anchor attempts in these forums.
