Help Replacing Dogmeat?

Recommended Posts

Hello

So I'm determined to have a Skyrim DeathHound follow me around in FO4 instead of Dogmeat (for reasons), but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing it.

I was able to swap out Dogmeat's model with the DeathHound and have all the bones/nodes, textures, etc... appropriately named and lined up in NifScope, but I'm a little lost on what I'm supposed to do after that, as when I place all the meshes, textures and the .nif file in the appropriate FO4 folders, Dogmeat is invisible instead of showing up as a DeathHound.

I have a feeling I'm missing a step or two, but none of the tutorials I've been able to find so far have been any help. If someone could maybe help me with a step-by-step on how to get a dogmeat replacer working I'd greatly appreciate it.

Assuming it's fully reweighted, and you have the matching materials and textures that's all you'll need to do..

Try to preview it in CK, and if you get a odd error, red exclamation mark or something similar it might need subindexing to FO4's standards

Materials and Textures all match up, but when I try to preview it in CK it opens a custom enb instead and then says I have an invalid directory. Which... I don't understand. Also I have no idea how to subindex or anything like that. I am very new to NifScope.
