Unresolved file conflicts for idiots please?

Ok, I took the plunge and abandoned tried and trusted NMM, and migrated to Vortex. I like it so far, except now apparently I have a long list of angry red lighting icons in the list, due to 'Unresolved file conflicts'.

Like many others, I used NMM because I'm not terribly savy about modding, and it seemed to take all the sweat and tech out of adding them. I've looked for support on this, but the very few comments I've found so far don't clarify it much, or suggest solutions in layman terms. Can we have, or can someone point me at, a SIMPLE way to 'resolve' these issues?

In NMM you did have file conflicts as well of course, you had to decide whether to overwrite files or not during mod installation - that was the file conflict resolution in NMM.

With Vortex you can change your decision without reinstalling the mod and you can see how you decided even after a couple of months.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. As I said, I'm not terribly savy with file manipulation, but you're overwrite explanation was along the lines of what I suspected. Of course, my automatic response to that was always 'Yes to all'. I like the look and feel of vortex, and I'm sure that with patience, trial (and not too much) error, I will master the transition.

Thank you again for your time - and more importantly, for your work!

A common claim by many Vortex critics is that NMM allows you to ignore file conflicts whereas Vortex does not. To those folk I would ask, "What then is the purpose of this NMM menu?"

In NMM this menu is triggered every time there is a file conflict. So why do some people keep insisting that NMM allows you to ignore file conflicts?
