Staff Of Magnus quest bug

After finishing the containment quest in the college of winterhold questline, Mirabelle will give me Savos's amulet and the labyrinthian torc but the staff of magnus quest will not start.

 

i have tried using console command 'setstage mg07 10" but that doesn't work at all, i have tried reloading saves and doing entire quest steps over again and ive had no luck in fixing this issue.

if anyone has a fix to this, please let me know, it would be appreciated.

yes, after i kill the 10 anomalies and turn the quest in it says quest complete on my screen.

i also tried verifying my cache but still no luck

Now, I do not remember the Mod, as it was a " while back ", but there was a mod, which had nothing to do with the Staff Modifications. It had to do with NPC's - Characters or something. ( Sorry, since I did not have the bug, I did not pay attention to it. Will start taking notes for my Trouble Shooting File. )

Hopefully the right Quest ID will get you there?

I'll be watching and doing some search to see if I can find it.

well, the only mods that i have that involve npcs are Interesting npcs, and Qaxes Questorium, ill disable both and see what happens

 

(update) neither of those mods seem to be an issue

Sadly, IF the above Quest ID's did not work either: IE: mg07 ....

 

BEFORE YOU DO THE BELOW: Did you use LOOT to sort your mods??

 

.. IF: NO - Get Loot and do that, just in case there is a mod in the 'wrong' place.

 

.. IF: YES - Then read on my friend. :(

 

THEN you have only 1 option and you are not going to like it, because when I have to do it, and I have more times than I want to admit too:

 

THE SEEK AND FIND.

 

You will likely have to start a fresh game, but you can try it before you 'go there'.

 

1. Back up ALL your saved games into a different directory so they are not touched by this test.

 

2. In NMM under the: PLUG IN tab:

... TURN OFF ( UNCHECK ) all mods. DLC's are NOT mods. Also do NOT turn off Unofficial Skyrim Patch.

 

3. Now likely depending on how many mods you have and IF they are Scripts:

... To Be Honest - I doubt it will work, but it might????????

 

4. Then see if the game loads? If it does: SAVE with all of the MODS off.

... Exit the game and then reload the game. This at times helps to insure all scripts and such are at a min. with the game load.

 

5. Then turn ON ( CLICK THE NMM BOX SO IT HAS A CHECK IN IT ) 1 or 2 at a time, so you can keep tabs as to which Mod will be the problem ... and repeat until you Find the Mod / Mods that are the problem.

... Understand, it could easily be MORE than 1 mod, so don't stop until ALL mods have been re-checked and loaded.

I was able to finish the quest-line, unfortunately i had to skip the staff of magnus quest entirely which is my favorite quest in the line, setstage mg08 10 automatically teleported me outside the college with the staff of magnus and i was able to proceed like normal but without the giant ward around the college. i see no reason why i couldnt return to labyrinthian in the future so no worries about that.

If you have a prior saved game, after the CONTAINMENT - mg05,

 

I just did this outside of Winterhold, and it started the Staff Magnus for me no issues. No teleportation nothing. Just told me to go to Labyrinthian and marked it on my map.

 

player.setstage mg07 10

 

I would suggest using lower case, as I have seen myself and other users have " issues " when they used CAPS in the console command.

Solved For Me:

I tried so many time but the staff of magnus quest was not started. then i tried to start from load before containment (just before arch mage tried to approach arcano). after starting containment instead of fast travel to Winterhold, i just walked directly to Winterhold. killed anomalies and return to Mirabelle on foot. now after completing containment quest the staff of magnus quest started. hope it will help someone.

For those with this issue in AE you can put in the console setstage mg07 50

The stages are in values of 10. idk if it is the same for other quests but it worked for me
