Censorship is a Cerberus.

 

Head one. We censor ourselves all the time. We don't tell people what we really want to say. If you don't believe that, then you can stop reading now. I have no desire to hold discourse with the delusional.

 

Head two. We all censor other people. How many times has the phrase "you shouldn't say things like that" rolled from your lips. We all want to be addressed respectfully and will correct people when they do not. Blocking someones posts it another way to actively censor someone else.

 

Head three. We are all censored. Legally, you are censored by what you can and not say to governmental officials. Don't believe me, walk into a courtroom and tell the Judge to go f*#@ himself. <--- Word filters are the biggest and best examples of public censorship. Neither can you shout 'fire' in a crowded theater unless there really is a fire.

 

So the real question should be "how much censorship are you willing to tolerate, and how much will you extend the same courtesy to others"?

Uh huh. What's really funny is, the 'right wingers' feel the exact same way about the left wingers. Given some of the utter BS the left is going on about in their presidential campaigns, I am more inclined to side with the right....... After all, destroying our economy in the name of 'global warming', or, whatever the pet term is these days, to not make any difference whatsoever, is just another form of insanity. At least the right wingers aren't trying to destroy our constitutional rights..... (aside from the abortion thing.)

The thing about this censorship (political correctness) is that its people who basically have a "Holier than thou" attitude towards others and its ironic that back in the 80's and 90's you had the religious right doing the same thing and people detested it and the same is true today , except its coming from the left with all their you can't say this or you have to say this (feminism/genderism/racialism/etc) otherwise we will come after you. Whether that's legally or some online mob campaign its still basically the same thing the religious right was doing way back when. I detested those types back then and I detest the new version today. And its worrisome that you have certain social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter or whoever playing along with it to make money. Quite frankly that's predatory behavior. And I don't want people like that being in control of what I am allowed and not allowed to say.
