Ah no I'm not, I don't have dawnguard. In my haste to download the mod I didn't read the disclaimer thoroughly. I guess I'll have to get my hands on some Skyrim DLC! Which may be a good time to ask, while the mod doesn't officially support Dragonborn DLC, will it work on a basic level with it, or will the game just break entirely?

Ah ok, if you use the non-dawnguard version everything is alright, it is so old, that the perkpoint-function was not added by Bethesda at this time it was up-to-date. ;)

About Dragonborn-DLC: It should work in principle, but since you deal 4x the damage and the new monsters there not, it will be probably quite imbalanced. :( Everything will be leveled in this DLC, but apart from Balancing issues it should work.

Is requiem still balanced/ immersive even with dragonborn?
Or should players with all the dlc's look for an overhaul elsewhere?
Sad to see the development of this mod may stop soon.

Nobody said that it will be layed to rest, we only put the Dragonborn component on hold until it is clear, if Xarrians modding break is finite or not. ;) I am still around and already working on the next upgrade. That Requiem does not yet support Dragonborn does not mean that you cannot play it any longer. For example you can use the nightmare difficulty optional to adjust the damage done by the enemies when going to Solstheim where the new enemies do not yet have the perks/stats from Requiem.

i am about to start my first Requiem game. I notice you have removed the essential flag from quest givers/vendors etc. and they can now die by dragon, vampire, bandit or other means which adds a lot of flavor to the game. Has this been a problem for breaking quests or removing vendors? In the past I have used ERSO's tweaks to NPCs which gives the key ones protected status. I like the old school perspective very much, but dont want the game to reach many impasses if these NPCs get plowed under. If I put the ERSO mod after Requiem, I believe much of your hard work in editing these many NPCS will be overwritten and / or become out of balance.

I would appreciate any thoughts and advice.
Thanks very much for this mod.

I just added Dragonborn to my game a few days ago (just after Xarrian announced he was going on hiatus) and have been using it with my level 56 character. I was doubtful whether it would work at all with my save game but so far it hasn't been that bad. It desperately needs the Requiem touch but, as Ogerboss said, it will play fine except for the unbalanced enemies. A lot of the Requiem features will still carry over, like hidden traps for example as well as urns not containing gold, because Dragonborn uses a lot of Skyrim assets, so the main immersion breaking thing is just the difficulty. Oh, and there are the leveled lists, of course. I saw a daedra heart for sale in Solstheim. I think I only found four or five in all of Skyrim, and none of them for sale.

So if you wait to do it after the main quest it probably won't seem that unbalanced as you'll be quite powerful anyway. Of course you won't see any of the great atmospheric touches that Requiem brings either. It's too bad, as I would love to see what Xarrian and Ogerboss could do with Hermaeus Mora and Apocrypha.

As far as I understand taking out the essential flag allows the player to kill the NPC but not another NPC (such as dragons, vampires, or anything non player controlled). The protected flag takes care that is not killed by another NPC and is not the same as essential, they are two different flags.

I have played with Requiem for over 150 hours and never had a quest giver/vendor die. Don't worry about it.

Trulo, thats true, but the authors here did not replace the essential flag with a protected flag. There is no flag which means the NPCs can all be killed by other NPCs or creatures. Even if I didnt enable mods like OBIS Raids, mighty dragons, or the vanilla vampire attacks, I would be concerned that quest givers would croak via normal vanilla game evolution. And when I enable those mods (which I think are a lot of fun), then my concern is multiplied. Just wondered what Oberboss and you all have expereienced and recommend. Again, I take the oldschool view re fictitious immortality but want increased game action. Those mods will kill NPCs. But maybe adding those mods goes against the theme of this mod so I have to set them aside... Kazekage1 Ok thanks. thats what i figured. Would still like to know if anyone knows how to add a protected flag in tesedit? I would like to just drag it over but it wont do it. Going through each of those 50 or so NPCs after every update in the CK is not an option.

No, what we did is adding a script to the player which allows you to circumvent the essential flag using script functions. ;) The essential flag itself is not removed.
