Mods don't show in game (skyrim SE)

Hello,

I normally don't this forum a lot, so I hope I'm the right place. English isn't my first language, so im sorry in advance for the spelling mistake. I'll try to make it as clear as possible.

The problem:

I have a problem with Vortex and my mods: I Installed mods that are installed on Vortex won't appear in game ( in this case Skyrim SE ). Some of them do appear, but some other mods like Character Makeover and Skyrim unofficial Patch won't.

Example, I have downloaded Total character Makeover and Installed it on Vortex, and then clicked on Install. But it won't show in my Game's mod list.

At first I though it was becoz perhaps becoz the wasn't at in the good folder, but no. Character Makeover is in the same place as one of the mods who in perfectly installed on my game.

Its pretty confusing. I have talked with some modder and they told me it seemed to be a problem with Vortex.

I really don't know if its me who is completely blind and I forgot to do a step, or I just accidentally did a bad thing.... I'm not that good in codding or these other thing.

Here is some info about the problem:

What I do when I Download a mod:

-Simply click on the «download with Vortex» button on the Mods page.

-Simply download manually the mod and drag it into Vortex.

-Ounce the mod is downloaded , I click on the «install» button.

What I know:

- Like I said , it don't seem to be a problem of where the file is , since they seem to be all in the same folder on my computer.

- It don't seem to be a problem of mods version, since even my mods like the Skyrim unofficial patch are up to date.

- Since some of the mods aren't «loaded » in my game, some other mods that are dependant of the other unloaded mods won't load either becoz they lack the required mod.

My downloaded mods that are installed on Vortex:

Mods that are show in game:

If there anything you need to know or its just not clear, just comment.

Thankx,

Hi!

To begin with, not every mod will show up in the in-game mod menu, as that menu shows only the .esp,.esm (and I think the .esl) files. So mods that do things such as only changing textures won't show up, as they don't require a .esm, esp, or .esl, for the game to recognize them.

Now, with the issue of those mods that do have the .esp, .esm, or .esl files that are still not there.

Under the MODS section of Vortex, do you see at the top how there are a row of buttons? One of the should be labelled "Deploy Mods". Click on that to make sure that all of the "Enabled" mods are deployed, and then check and let us know if everything is there.

Also, if you want to check if a mod has a .esm,.esp, or .esl file, you can go into File Explorer and into the location where you have set your Mod Staging Path.

For me, it's: D:\Modding\Tools\Vortex\{GAME}\mods, so I go to: D:\Modding\Tools\Vortex\skyrimse\mods. In there should be folders of all the mods that have been installed (enabled and disabled).

Then, if you want to check manually to see if they are deployed, match up the mod's that are enabled with the folder names, and check if the content are in the game folder (which they should be if they've been deployed properly). You shouldn't need to do this step though if you've clicked the "Deploy Mods" button though and it completed successfully. It is, however, something you can do if you think the auto-deploy broke and you wanted to check instead of clicking the "Deploy Mods" button.

Hello,

Hooo ok , ok that would make so much sens since most of the mods don't indeed have the esp/esm file... I understand now.

Yes, I just checked in my Vortex file, they are indeed there and well registered. So I guess everything is ok.

Thank you so much for the explanation, I really didn't know this.
