Questions about 2 Mods

Greetings dear community,

I am modding Oblivion for the very first time and I have to admit, that adding new mods is very challanging sometimes, but I have some questions about 2 mods.

My first question is about the NPC Static Level-Mod: If I quit the game, it'll crash. So I deactivated this mod and the problem was actually solved, but I don't want to struggle with enemies, who scale with my level and my experience, either.

Is there an alternative mod on Nexusmods, which I may use, or is this a known issue with an workaround existing?

My second question is about Qarl's Texture Pack III Redimized: I know the author keeps remembering us about always using OBMM for this mod, thus it is rather old. But is there anyone, who can tell me, if it's definetly necessary to use OBMM? If I understood it clearly, the mod will only replace a whole lot of textures and is supposed to overwrite the Vanilla textures, so I may use NMM or Vortex as well.

Your help will be welcome and thanks for any answers.

Regards,

EmperorsFriend.

I installed QTP3R through NMM, as I did/do with every mod I encounter... although I always restructure those archives, which can't be installed with my manager of choice off the bat, most often simply following the -manual- install instructions or re-doing the install scripts' work, but that is just me.

To cut a long story short... I install "every" mod with NMM, and so far didn't come across any, which didn't work, provided I always take the necessary precautions of course.

Hello EmperorsFriend,

To answer your first question, I do not understand why you need a mod to unscale the enemies' level... Why don't you use the In Game difficulty bar and put it to the extreme left (the easiest difficulty) ? Doing so, you will deal 6 times more damage and your enemies will only deal 1/6 of their normal damage to you.

For your second question, Qarls' mod is a very heavy mod that replace and add some textures. It is easier to use OBMM to install it because the process will be automatic and you don't have to worry about missplacing a folder or item. It is totally possible to install it manually though, you just have to be extra careful while doing so, or you might be surprised by some weird textures, missing textures or even a CDT every time you start the game.

Hello EmperorsFriend,

Rora, I consider this level system to be quite worthless, since enemies, scaling with your own level, makes the whole concept of developing and enhancing your character obsolete.

Here is an example: The level of city guards is scaling always 20 levels above yours and no matter how optimized your gear and abilities are, they'll stay challanging foes. In "my" point of view it's ridiculous to struggle with a pack of enemies, who should be routed within a single charge of an character, who got his 100 points on his destruction and blades/blunts abilities and who is running around with daedric equipment.

And I want to thank everybody for giving me hints and tips so far. I recently turned my games integrity quite upside down. It's time for an reinstallation, but your tips will come in handy.

Hello again EmperorsFriend,

I have tried the mod you were talking about in your first post " NPC Static Level" for a few hours. It does work fine for me except that I have a few CDTs here and there (I guess it would be because of some monsters or NPCs messing up with the script).

That being said, I understand how you want to play the game now ^.^, and here are some other mods that change the way monster/NPCs level throughout the gme :

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2518 : Francesco leveled creatures

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/30860 : Bandits and Highwaymen without leveled items

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39536 : Oblivion Unleveled (might couple it with other mods though)

https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47763 : Lower Level Enemies Dont Disappear

NB : The guards in any cities will never wear Daedric Armors or Weapons, they will always keep their standards Legion Armor and Silver Weapons.

NB2 : This also apply for any guards/forest guard you might encounter in the wild.

NB3 : The only way a guard ever picks up a different weapon would be to pickpocket his sword/bow or to disintegrate it... and even at this point, I'm not sure if they will not just fist fight you instead of picking up a random weapon.

I made a small tweak to AesLowerLevelEnemiesDontDisappear.esp that makes bandits and marauders equipment unleveled as well. That way their health and fatigue continue to level along with the player but you only rarely run across one wearing high level equipment.
