Mods not showing in "Mod" tab

I have downloaded a bunch of mods and after extracting them to the Kenshi/Mods folder, only a few of them show up and are selectable in the "mods" tab of the launcher. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried restarting my computer, running as admin and so far nothing seems to work. I am running a non steam version.

The mods are showing up in the launcher but not in the mod tab in-game in the options menu. In fact only the Steam Workshop mods are showing there, nothing from Nexus.

They work fine under 3 conditions:

1. They are in your mods folder

2. The folders are correctly named (the mod folder needs to have the same exact name as the *mod file for the game to be able to find the mod) e.g. "Kenshi/Mods/Amazing New Armour/Amazing New Armour.mod"

3. The mod is ticked in the launcher

Try reinstalling kenshi from steam to your DESKTOP and reinstalling mods with Vortex after setting the new installation directory to point to your desktop.

Or basically reinstall the game in a custom path outside of steam

You may have to adjust steam workshop mod path as well to kenshi desktopfolder< mods folder path if you do my way for easy access, or set the mod install paths for vortex and steam workshop to reflect wherever you reinstall kenshi at outside of steam

Also if you made anything readonly like the mod list for instance it will never be able to read/write to your mods to see the changes id take read only off the entire kenshi folder or try to keep everything defaulted if possible

Also never edit any mods you install with vortex outside of vortex ie when you manually copied and extracted under any circumstances it messes vortex up or something always uninstall or reinstall with vortex but i get you were trying solutions it seems to be a folder/path issue

And yes its the moving it out of commons is the issue but uninstall the game first and reinstall it the right way with custom steam install settings please

If you messed with any txt pad files that you messed with variables with and set to read only could also be the culprit interfering with mods not being read.

And no nothing installed into the mods folder will show up in your game at all even if your system shows its there if the kenshi launcher doesnt see it. Its a read issue its a easy fix

So that's why none of the mods I got were showing up. Thanks much.

Hi,

every mod should contain a .mod file.

Given you download a mod named "SomeMod":

the file structure has to be like this:

C:\...\kenshi\mods\SomeMod\SomeMod.mod

Hello, I apologize if it is inappropiate to revive an old topic but I just built a new PC so I can play Kenshi again, I have my old installation with \save\ and \mod\ folders, each of the folders contains \mods\<Name>\<Name>.mod and a file without extension named '__folder_managed_by_vortex'. I could log into my Vortex account and was able to resurrect it, installed Vortex client, but do I have to download all the mods from the Vortex webpage and reinstall everything manually? Are my mod subscriptions backed up on my Vortex account? Is the load order saved anywhere?

Thanks for reading!
