SKSE not updating?

Hello there!

After some time I've started playing Skyrim SE again, and to my surprise I found a new update which brought the game to version 1.5.62. (the most recent update)

I found out SKSE64 also has an update (2.0.12) which should work with previously mentioned game version, although I'm encountering a problem here.

I've downloaded and installed the most recent version of SKSE64, but whenever I launch the game I get a message stating the following:

"You are using a newer version of Skyrim than this version of SKSE64 supports. If this update just came out, please be patient while we update our code.

In the meantime, please check http://skse.silverlock.org for updates. Runtime: 1.5.62 SKSE64: 2.0.6"

It seems to me that for some reason SKSE64 is not updating to the latest version. I've downloaded SKSE64 from the official site which also states it should be version 2.0.12.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance!

you don't update SKSE or SKSE64

you uninstall and reinstall

try that and see if it works, also check the latest version and make sure it matches your update version

Im new to modding skyrim. i successfully got some of the mods to work. however Skse states it needs skyrim to be at least build 1.9. however steam wont update the game. and i cant seem to find an older build.

when i try to install skse it says skyrim exe install not found and refuses to install the core.

You should install skse manually. Download skse_1.07_03_7z from silverlock.org. Open the archive to your dektop and open skse_1.07_03 file folder, copy and paste the contents to your Skyrim directory, that is where TESV.exe is located. You do not need the txt files or the src but it does not hurt to include them if you are unsure of exactly what files to include.

From then on launch your game from skse_loader.exe.

What I usually do is create a shortcut of skse_loader.exe and place it on my desktop and launch my game from that. Remember that Steam must be running in order to launch the game, you can launch Steam and then close it with the X at the top right corner of the page and it will still be running in the background.

You will be much better off not letting Steam mess with your files. Steam workshop has been broken for some time so I would not use it.

I have played offline for a number of years now but that is a personal preference and is entirely up to you.
