Manage two profiles properly

Hello everyone,

So, I want to have 2 profiles in Vortex, one with my main modded game (200 mods), and another one for the open beta of Skyrim Together in coming. I created 2 profiles, enabled only 10 mods on the Skyrim Together one, but then I went to the data directory, and I saw that only .esp of disabled mods were "deleted" from data. Which means that with my 10 mods profile, I have a lot of content from disabled mods (like meshes, animations, loading screens/main menu...) that weren't disabled properly.

I also tried to uninstall mods on the 10 mods profile (so the files are gone), but on my main profile, these mods were also uninstalled.
How can the 2 profiles work together, switch properly every mods without leaving files behind ? I think NMM were doing it right, but switching profiles took me hours.

Sounds like you have a mix of old mods (nmm, manually installed) and Vortex managed mods.

If it were me - I would enable each profile and click Purge on that profile. Twice in all.

Then go to your Skyrim install directory (or Skyrim SE, depending) and delete everything not related to a virgin install. That includes your Meshes, Textures, and Scripts folders.

Then fire up Steam and have it validate your game installation. It will replace anything you were too exuberant in deleting.

Finally, activate each profile and hit Deploy (twice in all).

Then each profile will have only those mods specified for that profile. That includes Textures and all the other odd bits.

Trust me when I say this works. I use a half dozen profiles on both Skyrim and Skyrim SE. No left-over parts from any profile to any other profile.

Pro tip: I keep one profile named Default that has my level 60 main saves. Whenever I want to try a new set of mods, I clone "Default" and set local saves.

Works well for me - and I don't take hours doing it.

Yes after a bug in NMM I transfered all my mods to Vortex manually.

I don't have the purge option on my profiles, I only have Edit, Clone, Remove, Open Save Games, it this something to activate somewhere ?

SETTINGS--------->INTERFACE----------->ENABLE ADVANCED MODE

The Purge Option will then show up on your MODS Tab.

Ah ! Thank you, I tried to enable advanced mod, but didn't check the mods tab, I will try this out.
