Tamriel Rebuilt partially working...?! (missing textures on mainland)

Hey,

so I actually tryed to get the whole TR mod to work about a year ago. The identified problem back then was I did not have the English version of the game. meaning my GotY was german and I tryed to run the english based mod on that. Did not work, I lost it and did not have anymore time to try it.

Now i am here again. The Mod itself works with OpenMW (funny enough it uses the german localization in the original game areas and english in the mod). The game runs and I can travel to the mainland. There is just one problem on the mainland: Some textures - mostly NPC - are missing and replaced with big yellow exclamation marcs. I miss something, but I have no idea what. I have registered all the archives, otherwhise the mod would not work at all -_-

Please help.

That means you're missing some meshes, that's an error mesh used by the game in such cases.

If you've registered both the Tamriel Rebuilt and Tamriel Data BSAs then all I can think of is you're running an addon mod for TR which hasn't been installed right.

In the original game you can bring up the console, click on the missing mesh and type "ORI" and that may give you the name of the plugin the missing model's associated with. OpenMW? No idea.

So in the original game I do not have that problem because I can't play TR with my original game. I have to play with OpenMW. And right in Seyda Neen with the first NPC at the Docs this problem occures with missing meshes. The consoles says:

Content file: TR_Travels.esp
RefNum: 2
RefID: tr_m0_sentius_veros
Cell: Seyda Neen
Grid: -2 -9
Coordinates: -9224.24 -72671 92.263
Model: meshes\base_anim.nif
Script: TR_v_CharGenEnable

Some parts of the NPC are shown as normal, vanilla armor parts for example. But then the face and the chest is missing completely. I tryed to get a screenshot, but if I press the key, nothing happens... nothing seems easy here -_-

If I travel to Old Ebonheart for example, al the "vanilla" objects are there and correctly placed. But within between there are a lot of big yellow exclamation marks that show some mssing meshes

Then you need to get the TR_Travels.esp working, but that's not gonna be all you need to fix. Please, post everything of the Warnings.txt file.

Also, the script TR_v_CharGenEnable error is a good indication what your issue is all about.

They're using OpenMW though.

@wuze: Could be worth looking around the OpenMw forums, see if anyone else has had the same problem. I'm not sure about that engine.

Ok, so I tryed to get a clear re-installation of Morrowind. But actually getting Morrowind itself "normally" deinstalled was somewhat a impossible task. I could not go with the deinstall.exe from my CD so I went with the deinstall of the PC (programms and functions, where I have the option to list every programm on the harddrive and deinstall it there completely, dont know what that is named on english systems). I made a mistake somwhere on that way, because now I can not reinstall Morrowind, because the setup just freezes for a couple of seconds and then closes itself with the message "everything finished" whereas nothing really happened. Morrowind is not there. If I start the autorun of the disc, it say i can play the base game Morrowind. If I click the whole thing closes and nothing else happens.

So then I rememebered my Anthologyversion I bought a couple of years ago. I tryed to install Morrowind from the discs. The setup asks if I am sure I want to remove everything related to the programm - despite I clicked on setup/install and not on deinstall. I click "ok and yes". The setup does something, closes after a few seconds and shows me basically the same message I described abov. So I cant see Morrowind anywhere on the computer and I can not reinstall it from two different disc-sources... very nice.

It is very sad, that this mod just wont work for me. Not last year as I even tryed to fix the problem between the english mod and my german GotY. And this time the whole thing itself including a simple reinstallation of the game wont work either. Can't blame the mod, nor the team behind it, but its very frustrating... oh well, se ya all perhaps in 12 months when I have the energy again to get this thing to work -_-

Edit:

Ok, I got the install-setup of my GotY to just do what it should... meybe this time it works...

Edit2:

The normal GotY works again. Now lets try to get TR to run again.

Success!

Tamriel Rebuilt works now. Don't ask, I have no idea what I did different this time. After 2 hours of trying to get the game installed without freezing or errors I installed the mod and now it just works.

There is just one tiny problem I have and the thing is, that same problem occured a couple of days ago when I tryed to get the thing work with the old installation of the my basegame.

I'll try to give an accurate explanation, so perhaps there is a potential solution:

Last week as I tryed to get the mod work, I had a very old installation of my Morrowind. It runs on a general powerful PC and I never had problems with anything the last 4 years. As I installed TR last week, the mod came with the described yellow exclamation marks. But it ran smoothly with them. Now as I tryed to enter Old Ebonheart, there was first no problem, but after a few seconds in - me walking arround - the game became ultra laggy. A couple more seconds in, the game crashed. Since then, my Morrowind was somewhat laggy. No smooth camera movement, all I do has some tiny delay. And that problem stood with me even with a clear installation of the whole game and mod alltogether. I played arround with the settings a bit, but that does not change anything. The lags also are not really tied to areas with more objects or outdoor/indoor cells. They appear with no real pattern I can describe or notice.

Those lags are not exactly gamebreaking, but they take away a good junk of joy I would have otherwhise.
